Who: Tenten (tsunadewannabe) and Jet (gottabequicker)
What: Jet heard that no one remembered Tenten's birthday and is taking her out for lunch to make up for it.
When: Today at noon.
Where: Tenten's room, then probably the town or smth.
Rating: T for TL;DR. S-sorry.

It didn't matter that no one remembered to congratulate her two days ago. It really didn't.

Tenten had told herself this very sternly ever since the realization that she'd been forgotten about had dawned on her on the evening of her seventeenth birthday, but it wasn't until now, two days later, that she was able to fully convince herself that it was true. Scrutinizing her eye makeup in the bathroom mirror, she smiled at her own reflection and only barely managed to keep from giving it a mischievous little wink.

This was a date, wasn't it? A girl, a guy and an invitation for lunch just the two of them - that only boiled down to one thing, didn't it?

The thought made something akin to nervosity flutter in her stomach, and as she put her hair up in two neat buns her fingers weren't quite as steady as usual.

"Feet on the ground, Tenten," she scolded to the mirror. "You don't even know what he looks like."

A few things she did know, though. Jet had a firm sense of right and wrong and didn't back down from responsibility, was a skilled fighter and a good leader. A kind, thoughtful person too, as it turned out.

Now if he only had a nice face to that...

"Oh, stop it."

She shook her head in disbelief, putting the rest of the hairpins back in their box and leaving the bathroom. Was she really that shallow?

Choosing a matching skirt and shirt from the closet took her a while. Overdressing wouldn't do, this was much too casual an occasion, but that didn't mean she shouldn't try to look as good as possible. It wasn't entirely easy, this.

Maybe you got used to it over time. Tenten wouldn't know. While she wasn't as pretty as some other girls at home she had never considered herself entirely unattractive, but there just hadn't been much time for dates or anything of the sort. Not with Gai-sensei's crazy training schedule and mission after mission keeping them all away from the village for days. In that particular area, she had to admit that life at Paradisa had proven to be far better than Konoha.

She was ready now, and that with a few minutes to go before Jet would be expected to arrive. Leaning back against the wall facing the full-length mirror she gave herself another inspecting look, still smiling.

This time, she winked.

tenten, jet
