When: January 17, after
this~
Where: In town
Rating: G, PG... somewhere in there. XD
After being stuck in Paradisa for nearly a year, Kougaiji thought that nothing could surprise him anymore. He figured he could probably see the next catastrophe coming from a mile away, or easily guess whether or not the castle was behind the latest event or mishap. However, he wasn't sure if it was the castle that had him waiting to take Goku into town or not, and that was not a comforting thought.
It took most of his concentration not to mutter under his breath as he walked toward the front doors of the castle, where he'd said he would meet the boy. He half expected Goku to already be there, waiting for him, and probably grinning like a fool and bouncing like a monkey...
... Well then, Kougaiji hadn't lost all sense of prediction, had he? Because that was exactly where Goku was, and exactly what he was doing. Who wouldn't get so excited about going and picking out a pet? Especially someone with such an excitable personality. The boy stayed in place, jumping up and down when Kougaiji came into view.
"C'mon, c'mon~! Let's go~!" He chirped, impatiently fidgeting nonstop.
"Hello to you, too, Goku," Kougaiji said with a roll of his eyes, not even bothering to stop walking. The faster they made it there, the less time he had to deal with helping Goku pick out a pet. Why was he doing this again...?
"This way," Kougaiji called over his shoulder, "it's not that far."
Goku practically walked on his heels, following after him quickly to the pet shop. His curious eyes looked at everything outside, as if he were memorizing the place with landmarks, and every little detail he considered to be one. When they entered the shop, he looked astounded. He didn't know what to get, there were so many different things. A fish? No, he'd cook it... A cat? A dog? Lizard? ... Bird? He just didn't know!
Kougaiji looked back at Goku every now and then to make sure the boy wasn't about to run himself into a tree or something, and each time he couldn't help but shake his head. He didn't even have to guess what was on Goku's mind. In fact, he was surprised Goku wasn't talking about it out loud.
When they finally reached the pet store, Kougaiji simply opened the front door and stood back. He knew better than to get between Goku and the animals...
Goku practically bolted into the store, and immediately started looking everywhere. It was... well before this point that he was used to being smacked or shot at. Neither was happening, so, well, he was a loose cannon of hyperactive childish behavious that had just been dropped into a building full of small animals.
He looked at everything, running back and forth in the shop and scaring a few of the more jittery animals. He couldn't decide what he wanted, there were too many choices. "... What should I get, Kougaiji?"
Kougaiji watched with a blank stare as the young youkai bounce this way, that way, back the other way, that way again, and back. When Goku finally calmed down -- erm, relatively -- and asked, Kougaiji just shook his head rapidly. "Oh, no. You're not asking me to choose for you."
Goku made a pouting face at him, hyperactive beyond belief at the moment. The only people able to understand exactly how much energy he had were Kougaiji and anyone in or looking into the store... Not to mention a few of the animals. "But... I want something that fits! Something that I'm not gonna hate later!" He said, clasping his hands together and holding them up to cover his mouth. "Please help~~?"
Kougaiji let out a huge sigh. He wanted to turn and walk out of the shop, go back to the castle alone. He was above that, though. He knew he couldn't just leave Goku here. But helping him pick out an animal? That was too much to ask.
Too bad Kougaiji gave in. "You need something active and energetic. I'd say to get a dog. One that will grow up to be just as..." Bouncy. Hyperactive. Freakin' crazy. "... full of life... as you are."
Goku thought for a moment. A dog... And one that was as energetic as he was?
Can anyone say 'THAT BOUNCING THING IN THE WINDOW IS A JACK RUSSLE TERRIER.'
Kougaiji waited for Goku to think on his own for a bit before looking around as well. He spotted said BOUNCING THING IN THE WINDOW and, with a firm nod, took Goku firmly by the shoulders and guided him over. He pointed. "That."
Goku saw the puppy, and nearly immediately found himself in love with the thing. He jumped up and down in time with the dog a few times, and then ran up to the counter and told the clerk, who hesitantly got the dog out of the window and gave it to him. "Yay~!" He chirped, the dog squirming around in his arms, trying to learn to roll over, apparently.
Kougaiji ran a hand down his face, muttering a quick and quiet apology to whatever gods were in charge around here for assisting in bringing a hyperactive nuissance -- perhaps threat -- to Cair Paradisa. He looked down at Goku, shaking his head slowly. "The castle can give you what you need to take care of him, I'm sure. Are you satisfied now?"
Goku nodded his head, and the dog began to make odd noises as it wiggled around. "... I need a collar, though... and a leash," He said, looking down at it. It was obvious, even to him, that he would have to have somehting to restrain this animal.
Kougaiji nodded once. He spotted the collars and grabbed one that stood out most: bright red with a matching leash. He walked back over to Goku and tilted his head to one side, his facial expression indicating that Goku had better damn well keep the dog still so that Kougaiji could put the damn collar and leash on.
Goku restrained the dog without hurting it, getting it to calm down as best as he could by rubbing it's belly. All the movement was then concentrated into it's hind legs flailing about, and the upper half of it was still enough.
Kougaiji had a feeling that the animal would not stay calm for very long, so he quickly snapped the collar in place and attached the leash. He stepped back, nodding once at Goku before handing him the other end of the leash. "All yours," he said, and if you looked hard enough, you might see a tiny, nearly invisible little half-smile.
Goku smiled widely, and put the dog down. It began to try to run, but snagged on the leash and fell over. Goku laughed a little bit, and looked back at Kougaiji. "Does this thing really remind you of me that much?"
"More than a bit," Kougaiji answered with a snort. He shook his head as he began walking toward the door again. "Are you satisfied now, Goku?"
"Yeah~!" He chimed, following Kougaiji out the door with a skip in his step~ He hadn't felt this good since the last time he had gotten stuffed. Wait. That was earlier that morning...
Ah, well. He sitll felt good.
Kougaiji couldn't help but smirk as he wondered how long it would take for the journals to be flooded with complaints of a hyperactive jack russel terrier and a matching little youkai. He started to threaten Goku with bodily harm if the thing ever showed up in his room, but he quickly realized how useless that would be since it would probably happen anyway. And though he'd never admit it to himself, it was kind of nice to see him so excited.
