Ruby had woken at 9:30 that morning after her first night of decent sleep in days. She still couldn't sleep well on her own... but after a few days of not really sleeping at all she didn't have much of a choice in the matter. It had started working pretty well for her. Sleep terribly for three or four days then get a night of fantastic, deep, I may as well not be alive sleep. She'd gotten used to the pattern.

It had been about five till ten when she'd finally gotten out of the shower and taken a look at her journal only to see a note addressed to her from Speed. She blinked at it and looked at the clock. She had three minutes....sweet. Speed apparently was under the misapprehension that she woke up before noon on most days.

She sighed and searched the note again for any indication as to what it was that he wanted to meet her for but found nothing. With a shrug of her shoulders she stood and walked to the window, dumping herself out unceremoniously and changing forms at the first moment that it was safe then gliding around the castle in a large circle. She breathed in Speed's clean scent and.... someone else's? It was familiar. Female. Young. Human....but strange for a human...

He and the strange girl came into sight and Ruby banked to the left so she could come in more gradually. When she dove in as she usually did the force from her wings had a tendency to knock people over and that was just rude.

She landed lightly in front of the two then sat down, folding her wings then curling her tail around herself in a surprisingly delicate gesture for being such an enormous creature....enormous and pink.

She nodded and set her spoon near the sink, tossing the grapefruit peels into the nearest trashcan before heading off after him. Her journal had been left in her room, since she'd supposed she wouldn't need it. Getting into the habit of carrying it around would probably be a good idea..

When they stepped outside, it was only a little while before something large and pink came around from the other side of the castle. Her jaw fell open slightly, not that she could help it-- she'd never seen anything like that in her entire life. When the dragon finally came to a rest in front of them, Kitty looked up.. and up.. and up until she could see her head.

"..Hi," Kitty called up at her, finally. She waved, her face splitting in a grin. "You must be Ruby!"

Speedle just barely managed to keep from chuckling at the sight of Kitty's face and somehow also managed to keep a straight face on top of that. He blinked rapidly a few times to focus his poker face expression, then glanced up at Ruby and gave a small wave. "Hey, Ruby."

He paused for a moment to let Kitty catch her breath and get acquainted with the sight of a giant (pink) dragon. Then he looked at Kitty. "Kitty, this is Ruby." Looking up to Ruby. "Ruby, Kitty." He did a slight flourish with his wrist that fluttered his hand from first one person and then to the next. There, introductions complete. Another day accomplished.

Ruby dropped her head down to the level of the two humans as Speed addressed her. "Hey, Speed," she responded simply and cheerfully to his greeting. She tilted her enormous head as he introduced her to Kitty. Aha! This was the 'short people unite' girl. She seemed like a sweet little thing when Ruby'd met her over the journal.

Ruby gave Kitty a toothy smile then realized that that wasn't possibly the best idea and closed her lips abruptly. Instead she flicked her long ears forward (which always looked a little silly) then nodded to kitty, "Nice to meet you Kitty," she said then stretched her wings before refolding them more comfortably. She chuckled softly, "I guess I fail at the short people unite business today. I'm not tall for my kind, though, if that counts."

Kitty beamed at Speed as he introduced them with a flourish, silently thanking him for taking the trouble to introduce her. She really was surprised at how nice and amiable everybody was here.. probably because the only entertainment was each other.

Laughing at Ruby's ears flicking, she nodded. "Same to you, Ruby," she replied. "It counts for plenty, but it's hard to imagine anything bigger. Are there lots of your kind where you're from?" Kitty asked. Ruby wasn't anything like the dragons in fantasy movies.. furrier, for one thing, and her wings were different too.

Speed keep an eye on things with idle interest. It was nice to see two people getting along so easily around here. He didn't really see the really big fights or all the nonsense around here most of the time--he spent too much time in his room, really--but he knew it was out there. A lot. So this was nice.

At Kitty's question Speed automatically began to answer, habit from his job. "Nah, Ruby's one of four. So she's pretty unique." Oddly enough, if one were really paying attention, it was almost obvious he said it with a hint of pride.

Catching himself, Speed smiled sheepishly and glanced up at Ruby. She should answer for herself of course, it wasn't his place.
