What: Sokka proposes to Yue~
When: Last night.
Where: Outside in the garden.
Rating: G. SO CUTE.
Just as they had planned, Yue made her way to the outside of the castle, and into the garden. She wasn't sure why, but she felt really excited and nervous to meet with Sokka. They became official weeks before, and she was honestly very happy to be with him. General Iroh was right. She took initiative with her second chance, and things were moving along wonderfully.
A smile came to her lips when she noticed Sokka coming towards her, sending him a small wave. "Hey, Sokka~" She meet him half way, and moved to embrace him.
Sokka took the necklace and ran his finger over the smooth wood one last time, making sure it wouldn't fall apart unannounced. Stuffing it into his pocket and making sure it was well hidden, he left his room to meet the one who would hopefully say Yes.
Before stepping out the castle doors, he took a deep breath and fixed his hair. This was it. He pushed open the door and headed towards the garden where he found Yue already there. They embraced and he gave her a squeeze, before pulling back. He gave her a quick kiss and grinned. "Hey."
Yue laughed softly when he squeezed her, closing her eyes when he gave her that quick kiss. She blinked when she noticed how nice he looked tonight. Although his new style had taken some time to get use to, she really liked it on him. She tilted her head curiously at him then, taking one of his hands into her own.
"So what's going on, Sokka?" she asked, her face flushed bright with pink.
He gave a loud, nervous laugh. "You'll see," Sokka replied. He had it all planned out in his head, and if he screwed up, it'd ruin it. Trying to act cool and cover up any suspicion, he stuffed his hands in his pockets and leaned back a little. "Now turn around and close your eyes," he commanded.
A surprise? Yue wasn't sure what he was upto. A lot of things came to mind, and she realized how fast her heart was beating. "Okay," she nodded, turning around slowly and closing her eyes. She clasped her hands infront of her and let out a breath. "I.. I'm ready when you are," she said softly.
With a shaky breath, Sokka fumbled for the necklace and pulled it out, then smoothed out the fabric. Taking one end in each hand (and making sure it wasn't upside down), he reached over Yue and wrapped the necklace around her. He held the back ends together but didn't latch it, just in case. He leaned over her shoulder and whispered in her ear, "Will you marry me?"
The moment Yue felt the fabric and pendant touch her neck, she froze, her eyes filling up with tears. She knew Sokka was excited to be sixteen, but this was the most amazing surprise. Then he whispered the words to her, and she nodded, before turning around to throw her arms around his neck. "Yes, yes I will," she cried a little, leaning in to place a kiss on his lips.
Sokka, too, felt his eyes tear up a little. As she threw her arms around him, he wrapped his own around her waist and deepened the kiss more. He honestly couldn't be any happier.
After a while, he pulled back, and offered Yue the biggest smile he could manage. "This wouldn't be possible if we were at home," he laughed. There had been too many obstacles: different tribes, customs, and Hahn...
Yue's arms still lingered about his shoulders and she returned his smile with a soft one of her own. "I'm really glad we were able to meet again here. And now we can get married.. This is the best night, Sokka," she admitted, pulling a hand back for a moment to look at the necklace he made for her. "It's beautiful~"
"It really is," not only was Sokka happy that they were given this second chance, he was even happier knowing that they were going to spend this second chance together.
He beamed at her compliment. "Thank you!" he grinned. "I've been practicing my carving and stuff, you know."
Gently tilting the pendant a little, she giggled a little and looked back upto him. "I can tell. You've really improved~" she grinned, remembering the fish she once confused for a bear. He was so cute though, and it was the thought that counted back then.
"I love it. And you too," she said, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek.
"Yeah," he blushed a little. He was glad that all his time randomly carving up his table finally paid off. If his dad could see him now, he was sure that he'd be proud of his son.
"I love you too."
