Having long since explored the grounds of the castle, Drizzt was content to spend the pleasant afternoon resting comfortably against the trunk of a tree not far from the castle's entranceway. His position allowed him the opportunity to unobtrusively observe any coming into or leaving the castle while at the same time granting him a measure of solitude, for there were not many people about. Next to the dark elf lay Guenhwyvar, the panther sprawled out in a patch of sunshine, basking in the warmth.
Drizzt was adjusting well to his new life and had begun to consider Paradisa his home. Here he had found a place for himself, one where he was not judged by his appearance and the legacy of his people. Not one to run from unpleasantness, the drow could not truly remember anything from his homeworld that would bring him guilt for so easily abandoning it. Everything he had sought for so many decades, he had found here. How could he not call it home?
He pictured Kaylee, the human woman's image coming easily to his mind. More precious than mere acceptance, he had found her amid the winding hallways of the castle. Thoughts of returning to Toril, of leaving Paradisa and Kaylee, never crossed his mind.
At peace with himself and the world, Drizzt leaned his head back against the tree and smiled, laying a hand on Guenhwyvar's side. After nearly eighty years, Drizzt Do'Urden had come home.
