What: So beginth the torture of Speed. Duo comes to check on him since he's being such an idiot clutz.

Speed's mouth wouldn't work properly, it just kept opening and closing like a floundering fish left on dry land with no hope of ever returning to water. His eyes were so wide, it was a wonder they didn't pop out. He also couldn't help it when said wide-eyes floated downwards from Ruby's face to--well, you know

Duo couldn't help it -- he burst out laughing. The interaction between the two was just priceless. He probably should have been more surprised by the transformation, but seriously. Talking. Pink. Dragon-cat.

He almost wanted to offer her congratulations for flabbergasting Speed so well, but he didn't really know either of them that well and didn't want to stick his nose where it didn't belong. ...Not that that wasn't happening by just being in the room, but hey, he'd had an invite.

"Bet your ass it's cool," Ruby said with a wink.
She picked her feet up off of the ground then crossed one leg over the other, hovering in a sitting position and looking quite comfortable.
She floated slowly back over to Speed until she was almost touching him then stopped. He could probably feel the heat off of her skin. She was gonna get in trouble for this. But it was fun.

She gave Duo a bit of a look then raised her brow at him. "Anyway. So you, Kid. Duo or whatever your name is. What's your story. And what's so funny?"

She hadn't really meant to sound surly. She really didn't mind his presence at all. Ruby was just... a little socially retarded on a regular basis. She sort of knew she was...but she didn't particularly care.

"Kid works, all the name I had for..." Duo trailed off for a moment, but quickly picked back up again, "for a while. Ah, you want the story starting with Adam and Eve, or just my part of it?" He grinned for a moment, then shrugged, cocking his head to the side. "Just you guys, that's all. Haven't spent much time in pleasant company, even before showing up here. Nice to see people having fun for a change."

Speed tried to keep his automatic reaction of sliding away from the pink-feline-dragon-turned-human in check and somehow managed to sit as still as possible instead. He side glanced at the floating pink-haired girl with his eyes only. He looked back at Duo with wide, pleading eyes that said plain as day "help me." (Complete with The Fly voice effects and everything.)

The CSI cleared his throat a little uncertainly and glanced from Ruby back to Duo. "So, uh, speaking of stories... what's both of yours? What kind of worlds do you each come from and the like?" he tried to make idle conversation, not really sure where all of this was leading at the moment and definitely more than a little skittish about it all.

Ruby drifted away a little for, if nothing else, the purpose of eye contact. "I'm a dragon. From the world of Lunar. There are four of us. We do the whole protect, sustain, keep humans from blowin' themselves up bit."

She looked at her toes, holding one foot out in front of her to examine them curiously as if she was terribly uninterested in her own story...which she was. "I'm the red dragon so my element is fire. I'm 327 and stuck in a weird world then end."

She looked up at Duo expectantly. She'd really not told much of her story but she just didn't feel like it. She would tell Speed someday if he was curious but honestly she didn't want him to know unless he was himself.

Duo nodded when she finished. "Abridged, then. I'm a street rat from L2 -- space colony. Ended up as the pilot of a Gundam -- there were only five of us -- and fought to free the colonies from Earth's control. Long story short, we won, happily ever after... then here." Duo shrugged again, he wasn't entirely pleased with the situation, but nothing too terrible had happened yet.

Speed wasn't sure which was more interesting--the fantasy novel or the sci-fi novel. He looked at Ruby, then Duo. "Space colony? Like, seriously a structure in space that accommodates the human race to actually live properly--space colony?" His eyebrows rose high. "That's, that's pretty cool. What time period is that? I wonder..." he trailed off.

He glanced at Ruby, shook his head, and said one thing: "You know they already have a color for that, right?" He tried not to laugh--failed.

Ruby relaxed and listened to Duo's story. Space colony? That was weird. She had no idea what a gundam was and though she was vaguely curious....she had an overpowering sense of not caring that wasn't something she felt like getting past for that morsel of curiousity

Speed grinned--bait taken--score. "Like I said... 'Guess what? They already have a color for lightish-red. You know what it's called? Pink!'"

He grinned some more, then turned the expression to one slightly more serious--slightly. "I know what pink is--it's a hue of red that has a lot of white pigment in it to make it 'lighter' in coloration than red. I could even give you it's specific pigments; I've got 'em memorized thanks to carpet fiber trace. Still, I'll go with my quote. It has a name: pink." He grinned some more.

Ruby looked at him irritably. "I know what pink is, Speed. I AM pink. I know a whole lot about the color since I've seen it every day for the past 330 ish years."

She landed on a table nearby and laughed a little haughty, "But since we're in the mood for reiteration.... Bald and Funny looking," she said, enunciating the two terms very clearly and jabbing her paw in his direction at the beginning of each one."

Duo managed to stifle his laughter -- the cat-dragon hadn't seemed very happy with his amusement earlier -- but he was still grinning like a fool. "Pink isn't that bad." As long as it isn't a limousine, in any case.

Speed smirked and hid a frown behind it. He shook his head and ran his hand through his hair. "I'm not bald..." he said light-heartedly.

Ruby lowered her hears irritably and let out an unusually annoyed sound. "On everything but your head you are.." she paused then grinned wickedly, "Well....almost everything"

She chuckled to herself then stood, "Anyway. This encounter is giving me a headache, what with you and your weird, hyper, cheerleader-Speed attitude adjustment and aversion to the color pink, so I'm off."

She turned toward the window then looked over her shoulder, "If you get yourself into trouble you call for me loudly and immediately, you understand?" she then glanced at Duo, "Nice to meet you, Kid."

With that she hopped out the window. She disappeared for a moment and when she came back into view a huge pink dragon flew off toward the town and disappeared again around the castle.

Speed blushed so hard at that comment he thought his head was gonna explode. He glanced around the room frantically, looking anywhere but at Ruby--or Duo for that matter. He wished he were a turtle; then he could hide in his shell right about now.

"Th-that, that was uncalled for!" he called out, well after the pink dragon had already flown far away. He sat there slumped, head tilted downward as he continued to avoid Duo's gaze.

"Aa, so... anyway..." he said awkwardly in the remaining silence.

Duo managed to nod to Ruby just before she left, grinning over her comment. He tried to tone it down when he saw just how embarrassed Speed was, but really, it wasn't like not having hair was a bad thing. Not for humans, anyway. He cocked his head to the side. "Well, she's an interesting... thing slash cat slash dragon slash... pink-ness," he commented, still smiling.
