Euphemia had begun getting ready. This was actually a little sooner than she expected and a little sooner that she wanted. To be honest she was surprised he'd brought it up again. Did he really want to know that so much?

It seemed to her Leon had been a little distant lately, she didn't know if she had done something or if maybe it was... well, that one week. She still skipped up the flights of stairs, cheerfully, dressed in what would be her gown for her meeting with Cross. So, formal really, more formal than what she regularly used. Maybe she also picked it because it suited her purpose now.

Offering him this.

Ah... would he hate her?

Stopping outside his door she skipped from one foot to the other and then pushed the door open, Euphie poked her head around.

"Mm...?"

Leon hated it when people wanted to ask him something but didn’t. It drove him crazy--how was he to be expected to just wait around wondering what the Hell was going on? Granted, he hadn’t really been… talkative, lately, himself--but that wasn’t entirely his fault. He’d spent a little time with Selphie, and Euphemia hadn’t really seemed like she wanted to talk to him much, so…

Eh. He’d whatever’d it for a little while.

But at least now he was getting somewhere with whatever Euphemia wanted. He was mildly curious at what she was going to give him, but at least he was actually going to find out instead of being made to wait until later.

He’d been cleaning his gunblade on his bed when the little pink princess had poked her way inside, and he raised a hand in greeting.

Yeah, she had been avoiding him subconsciously. Not out of dislike or anything but she remembered all too well that he had to sedate her and that he had not seen her the rest of that week. Guess maybe she hadn't expect to have hurt him? She... she thought it was just better to pretend that whole week never happened.

He waved and she smiled at him, skipping inside, closing the door behind her and then making her way to him.

Euphie picked a spot on the floor and sat there, at his feet, smiling up silently at him.

Leon wiped off his gunblade for the last time before placing it in the case on his bed, closing it and looking down at Euphie with a raised brow. He leaned forward, resting his forearms on his thighs as he peered at her.

“So?” he questioned. “What’s up?”

The princess shifted a little, avoiding a bit of eye contact for a moment while she thought briefly of her most recent encounter with Cross. That was a secret but he would know, eventually. Euphemia looked up at him, "Leon."

Ah.

It was hard to ask this, it was accepting that she... was well... Princess was one word for it. Tiny fingers clasped the delicate brooch she had made. A copy of Suzaku's except for its colour. Would it work?

She extended her hand offering him the symbol.

Leon’s eyebrows drew together in brief confusion, studying the symbol silently for a moment. That looked… familiar. Hadn’t Suzaku worn something similar to it, at one point or another? So why was she giving him it? His lips parted as if to speak, but he paused briefly. Yeah, he’d seen her knight wear it before… Oh.

Oh. Her knight? I want you to be close to me always~

She wanted him to be her knight?

“You want me?” Leon questioned, trying to make sure he wasn’t somehow taking this the wrong way.

Euphemia looked a little apprehensive and then nodded, "Yeah." She did.

"I want you, Leon to be my knight." she cleared her throat, "Please?" The princess stilled and sat back down a little, letting the hand with the offered brooch to rest on her lap instead. "...It doesn't need to mean anything, I mean... it's just..."

"We can the same things, right? We should... we can... work together."

While Euphemia was hesitant, Leon was now not. He understood what she wanted, and it worked… both ways, really. It would let him keep a better eye on her, with this symbol of loyalty and their ties to each other, ensure that he wouldn’t fail when she needed him, like before. It was amazing that she.. trusted him enough, to ask this.

“Okay,” he agreed easily, holding out his hand to her. “I can be your knight.”

Yeah, she trusted him. A lot. Euphemia hated herself though, so she couldn't understand why Suzaku carried this burden or why Leon would say yes. He had said yes though so... the princess smiled relieved and reached up to offer him the brooch once again. It suited Leon, red and with those golden wing-like décor. Blue was Suzaku's colour, but red was...

Leon took the brooch wordlessly, pinning it onto the front of his jacket. Another symbol, another part of his life, to add to it, with the wings on his back and the Griever emblem on his sleeve, and now the brooch on the left side of his chest, over his heart. He looked at it silently for a moment before switching his gaze to Euphemia and raising his eyebrows expectantly.

“I thought I was the one supposed to be kneeling.”

Euphie's expression was hard to read. Mixture of surprise, pleasure and somehow something else. Something which was not naive or innocent, but knowing. Maybe she had begun seeing too much. "You can next time." she teased and slipped his arms around his neck, hugging him. Yeah.

...She didn't know what to say. Well, maybe, "Thank you." she muttered but he couldn't see her lips from this angle, could he? That was alright though, she clung childishly.

...Leon wouldn't let her drown.
