Who: Paine and Rikku. What: Chillin' like villains! Minus the villainy part. When: After this convo. Where: Eighth floor! Rating: G? D: it won't go stronger than PG-13!
It didn't take much to occupy Rikku as she waited for Paine. She took out a sphere she had in her pocket and rolled it around as if it were a ball. It wasn't an important one, no.
This place wasn't so bad. Aside from the aliens and the random people from other worlds, it wasn't too different from Spira from what she could tell. Which wasn't much, but she got a good feeling from this place.
Plus she liked the idea of have anything you want to eat.
"Gullwings go~ La la la la la~ Gullwings fight! La la la la!" Curse Shinra.
Walking down the hallway, Paine heard Rikku before she saw her. She winced. That damn song. If you could even call it a song. More like a tune, right? Either way, it was pretty bad. Or maybe just unoriginal.
Nah, it was bad.
Paine strolled up to her friend, affecting a bored expression. "Practicing?" she asked drolly. Her eyes went from Rikku's face to the sphere then back again. She thought about asking which one it was then figured if it was that important, all the more to annoy the boys back home.
Rikku glanced up at the other girl and gave her a cheery smile. "Hey~!" She was glad to see that same ol' sullen look she'd come to know and love.
The young Al Bhed rose from her position and stretched as if she had been sitting there forever. "You're outfit's cute~" Rikku commented as she looked at the simple clothes her friend had on. "It's very Paine~"
At the compliment, Paine lifted an eyebrow slightly then shrugged it off. "Yeah, thanks."
A thought occurred to her and she couldn't help but smirk. Resting a hand on her hip, she asked, "You want your first stop to be the kitchens or are you still 'tired'?"
The younger one opened her mouth to say something but then paused, as if thinking quickly. Paine was a smart one. She could easily find out that Rikku really wasn't all that tired. She just didn't feel like going down stairs. Problem was, she was starving. And if she gave in, Paine would never let her hear the end of it.
Quite the predicament. Rikku had to choose her words carefully. "If I don't eat," she started, putting some acting into it, "I'll simply pass out~ Let's get something to eat?" Oh yeah. That should do it.
Paine watched the other girl, patiently waiting for a response. She could practically see the gears turning in the blonde's head.
When the response came, Paine only stared at her. "Uh huh," she said. Her tone made it clear that she knew Rikku was trying to pull a fast one. But it wasn't that big of a deal, so she was going to let it go. It hadn't annoyed her too much to go up five flight of stairs to meet up with her friend. It was probably going to annoy her more that now she had to go down those five... and another three. This time with Rikku.
Oh well.
"C'mon," Paine muttered, turning and heading back for the stairwell. "Hope you aren't expecting a tour. There's the kitchens, a library, a pool, gardens outside... things like that. Not much to do or see." Unless you're easily entertained, she thought with an inward chuckle.
Either that was sarcasm, or Rikku actually pulled it off. Either way, it was a success.
"Ooooh well that's boring!" Rikku said with a sigh and followed Paine. Not that she was expecting anything extravagant to come from this strange new place. But, seeing as how this was a huuuuuuge castle, one would think something cool would be there. Ah well.
"Told you," Paine agreed. Starting the labourious trek down the stairs, she glanced back at Rikku. Then back around immediately so the quick and very brief twitch of amusement at her mouth wouldn't be seen.
"Though... people keep stumbling onto a lot of things," she said, voice as measured as always. "You're pretty good at stumbling, so maybe you'll find something interesting." She shrugged, as if she didn't care either way.
