Who: June (allforliving), Iroh (western_dragon)
What: It's bar time~!
When: Late, late evening; midnight?
Where: From the palace to the pub
Rating: PG

He'd been waiting for the perfect opportunity to slip away from his room and find her. It turned out this opportunity came rather late at night--

Just in time for barhopping. Perfect.

He knew she wasn't expecting him, but he hopped nevertheless that he would catch her in her room. With a grin he stood in front of her door--and knocked softly.

"June? Are you there?"

Iroh was lucky June was a night owl type. Really. If she was sleeping, and that somebody came in, whether he was room service or a friend ( did she even have any? ), the bounty hunter would have grabbed the nearest sharp object, and hit whoever it was right between the eyes. And it would be easy-almost like a novice's target practice.

Iroh was also lucky June was getting prepared herself, after being told by a new acquaintance she called Yuki that the drinks at the bar were free.

Well, that would be almost enough paradise for her- the keyword being almost.

It was when she heard the knocks at the door, the hunter grabbed her gloves, wore it, and then walked over to open it.

It was Uncle Lazy; nice timing, even.

"You're lucky. I was done fixing." said June, knowing that tonight would be bar heaven time.

He grinned. Lucky him--she was all made-up and ready to go.

"You look lovely June."

He played at innocence, quirking his eyebrows and trying to look surprised. "Where you going somewhere June? I was just stopping by to see if perhaps you'd want some tea. I find it really helps me sleep."

Yeah right. He wasn't so old as to think she would actually be going to sleep. Or that they'd actually be drinking tea. Alcohol would serve his purposes much better.

Lovely, eh? Well, the clothes she was wearing were just plain, black, with a few souvenirs of some tears and gnaws from a few of her bounties ( that were now either dead, rotting, or tortured. Either way, they were off her to do list. ). Maybe even some dried blood? Whatever-it was something she wears, and it looks damn good on her ( not that she.. really cares about the way she looks. A kill's a kill, after all. ). She shook her head, smirking ever so slightly from the comment.

"It looks the same as everything else, unless you're gonna need glasses soon," stated the hunter as she gave a small shrug.

"Thought we were going to the bar?" she cocked her head to the side, slightly curious-well, he was old and experienced. Couldn't he do it himself?

Eh, whatever.

"Your attitude is the accessory that makes you truely sparkling." He smirked and tilted his head to the side.

"We are? Well--if you don't mind having company like me. I haven't been to a bar in quite some time...A strong drink might do me good." He patted his stomach with a smile.

"Shall we?" He motioned towards the door.
Of Blue Flames: Sparkling?

Happy star-like sparkles and June don't mix, but she supposed beggars weren't choosers ( not that Iroh was a beggar-he's far from that, even ). The hunter gave out a soft sigh before she nodded towards the older one.

"Thanks." said the bounty hunter as she followed out-but now, there was only one question in her mind: where was the bar? They were currently in a giant castle that was practically a maze, after all.

If she got lost, she's killing someone.

He noted her puzzlement, but decided to graciously refrain from commenting. Instead he began to subtly lead the way--walking with assurance towards the front door of the castle.

"So has your stay here been pleasant so far? Met any knew friends?"

He directed them through the large front doors of the castle and began the walk down the path that led to the village.

Usually, June would just keep quiet, go to the bar, maybe have a little friendly competition with the supposed strongest one inside, win, and then drink until she felt she was on the edge to either being tipsy and/or drunk. And bring drunk was always a bad thing in a bar full of men, even for the hunter. It made her wish her shirshu was still with her, or her whip at least. Maybe even a small dagger would be good.

Anyways.

June wasn't really a social girl, but.. she supposed it wasn't bad, considering that they werent' back home at either nation.

"Met a guy named Yukimura; he told me all the drinks were free. Heh," She shook her head slightly, "I don't really call him a friend, but he seems fun."

"The drinks aren't the only things that are free, June. The castle provides everything you could want.." But takes away a precious part of you. Despite Iroh's comfort in his situation, he could never forgive the castle in depriving him of his son's memory.

"But sometimes, having everything handed to you on a silver platter is a bit...boring. Don't you think?" He flashed her a smile and continued the walk down towards the village. He could see the buildings in the distance--they were almost there.

"Yukimura? Haven't met him. The castle has many residents--but I'm sure he's a nice enough fellow."

"Sometimes," She paused as she looked around the village; the bounty hunter thought it was quite strange that at some parts of the buildings and stores, they looked very, very similar to the ones back home-specifically around the Earth and Fire kingdom. Well, at least there was some shred of home sweet home, but nothing to be nostalgic about. It was stupid, anyways.

"Yuki's a bastard," June corrected the dragon of the west for a moment before smirking, "That's why he seem's fun." said the bounty hunter. It's true, though-some people like that intrigued her, and made her question, 'Is he good fighting, or does he have a prince on his head?'

"Ah, so it's bastards that interest you, June?" He watched her carefully from the corner of his eye. "I can't say I share that particular fascination."

He laughed softly, and pointed to a building across the street. Dark, poorly lit, a bit run down--obviously a pub.

"I believe this is the place that serves drinks for free."

"To an extent, Uncle Lazy." June added to his sentence, just so he'd know that not all assholes interest her, like his nephew, for example. She knew that Zuko can be a heartless bastard, but no. The bounty hunter had zero interest in him. ( It wasn't that she hated Zuko-she just didn't care, and it's hard for a person like her to care, because, well, she really didn't; apathetic about the world, really ), "I don't like all of them."

And there she saw the bar--well, this most definitely reminded her of one of the other pubs back home, filled with smelly, rough, rowdy, and violent people. June wondered if it was just as interesting inside as it was back then.

"Perfect," said the bounty hunter as she went towards the said place. She was thirsty.

Iroh chuckled at June's hungry desire--she certainly wasn't one to beat around the bush when she was talking about what she wanted. With no hesitation--he followed her.

Inside, the bar was dilapidated--with many shady characters. He saw June smirk upon entering and had the strange idea that here, she was at home.. It was funny to him--a beautiful girl like June didn't quite fit in with dingy atmosphere.

But she seemed at ease here--and as they walked to the bar he smiled slightly as he noticed her cocky smile. As if she owned the place.

"I'll have whiskey." He nodded to the barkeep. "And for you, my dear?"

"I'll have the same thing you're having," said June-whiskey was fine with her. It was strong enough to keep her sane, perhaps. Besides, the smell of wine that roamed all over the castle was making her sick. Why? Mainly because she wasn't a wine person, or anything like that.

Rather, she wasn't used to it.

The bounty hunter paused for a moment.

"Y'know, I half expected you to get tea." said the bounty hunter-why yes, she was amused, to an extent. Just something to make the mood more fun, she supposed.
He grinned at her comment, then drank his shot of whiskey in a gulp. "Another, please." He handed his glass to the barkeep and turned back to June.

"There is a time and place for whiskey, too. And when you're as broad me--" he patted his belly aimiably. "You work up quite a thirst."

He took his new shot of whiskey in hand. "So how are you enjoying Paradisa, June?"

Well, wasn't he a quick one, she thought as she took her shot of whiskey, downed it for a moment, and then looked back towards Iroh as she waited for the bartender to fill up her glass, or give her a new, filled one. Either way, the hunter would still drink, no?

"I suppose it's alright-just needs a little touch of home, but I'm getting to that." She answered before she grabbed the new shot glass, and took it down again.

Ah, so much better. Sorry, tea-lovers, but June's ratehrmuch taken, by alcohol~.

Impressive--she didn't even flinch. He took another shot of his own before letting out a small content sigh."

You know June, as a firebender--alcohol has a certain appeal. It burns--and it makes your chest and belly exceedingly warm. That's why I have no trouble drinking it--why I enjoy it."

He smirked softly. "And by the looks of it, you're part fire bender yourself."

He tried to crack a joke. Funny. Abit flattering, even. June just shook her head as she took one more shot before focusing on the older one again. Was Uncle Lazy trying to be cute? Well, not that she minded much anyways. She was now officially sure, though, that everyone who lived in the Fire Nation was that bad at jokes. Heh.

"You wish," said the hunter as she gave a snap of her fingers, just to point out that there were no flames, "Just.. call it all natural." She added as she gave a small glare towards the barkeep, who, to her, was too slow on pouring.

She was already ahead of him in drinks--impressive, especially considering how much smaller she was then him. He took another shot.

"You're right. Perhaps I do wish." There was something fire nation in her--her spirit, her attitude--but really, she was hard to pin down to any nations. She was a free spirit--someone who lived by themselves for themselves. And for that they believed. He envied her that.

"At the rate your drinking--I'm going to have to carry you home." He chuckled. "Not that I'd mind."

"Really now?" June smirked at that remark-so he wished more people like her lived in the west? Wasn't that nice of him. It was sad, though, that she was a unique soul that could never be duplicated, and that it was the environment that turned her into what she was. Perhaps if a few things changed, Iroh's wish could come true.

Not at this rate, though.

".. And if you're fainting first, I'm dragging." She replied to his last statement. Carrying her home would make him happy, huh? Well, she'll believe it, if she drank too much-and the phrase 'too much' wasn't in hervocabulary.

They'll see.

"Ah, there's that sparkling wit of yours that I love so much, June." He made a motion to the barkeep--"Leave the bottle--I'll pour." He poured new shots for June and himself.

"So tell me about yourself. How does one such as yourself become a bounty hunter?"

"Easy," She paused for a moment to raise her filled glass towards Iroh, to thank him for pouring, of course, before she drank it all down again-- ah. Just like home indeed, "If you want money, you work--and catching wanted people for high princes' probably one of the best deals you'd ever have." Added June. Well, it was true--that was how bounty hunting worked, anyways.

"And your own?" she asked back, expecting something about the war, of course-- with him travelling with Zuko and all. ( And yes, she's figured who was who after awhile. Their authority figures, anyways. )

"In my case..." he took a swig. "You're born into the job." He smiled. One a prince, once a general, once a father--and now, an uncle. At least, that's how he saw himself these days--hardly as Iroh, but as Prince Zuko's Uncle. It was a harder job than many it seemed.

"All you need to be me is belly full of fine food and tea, and a nephew with a tendancy to overreact. Not a tricky recipe at all."

Fine food, tea, and a nephew--- don't forget royalty, but June kept her lips sealed on that part. She was smart enough to know her limits ( thank god she just started to drink-it would've been horrid if she were already drunk ), and not get burned in the process. Or worse, but then.. this was Paradisa. It's supposed to be paradise.

Strange enough, people say it's hell.

"But lacking for a few people." said June before taking another, "Enjoy it?"

"My life?" Strange. He reflected on his life frequently--and spent most mornings in Paradisa watching the sun rise and wondering where he had made his mistakes, and where he had been successful. Still--

"Yes..." He smiled, and poured her another (he had ceased pouring for himself for the time being). "But I'd enjoy it more with the right company. What about you?"

"Mine's fine." was the only answer Iroh would get from her, until, of course, she decided that he was trustworthy enough to know of her childhood--that would take forever to do. She really only did talk it over with her Shirshu, mainly because it wouldn't talk back.

Whatever.

"So," She took down the whole shot once again before continuing, "Who do you consider 'right company' so far?"

That was tricky. 'Zuko' immediately sprang to mind--but currently Zuko was not someone he could talk about freely. So instead he shrugged.

"I'd say that dark-haired women with a fondness for big beasts and drinking are my favorite type of company at the moment." He grinned.

"You say things similar to all the women you drink with, don't you?" asked June, lips quirking-she'll take the statement as a compliment, mainly because it is. Besides, the old man was warming up to her-well, in a sense. She was getting used to him, and she didn't mind his company.

Just not the sneaky way of trying to hold her again by pretending he was whipped by her shirshu, please. Otherwise, there'd be hell to pay, of course.

The shirshu moment still reigned supreme in terms of singularly amazing experiences Iroh could call his own. He laughed slightly at her comment.

"There aren't many women I choose to go drinking with." Not since his wife. But that wasn't exactly a topic he cared to broach.

"What are the kind of men you like to drink with?"

.. To be honest, this was sort of funny for the bounty hunter, talking about men and women they were comfortable to drink with, a bit of their personal life. June hasn't talked to anyone that was just so curious about her. Afterall, she was told that she even scared most people, especially the ones that called themselves womanizers. Great.

"People I get comfy with--not to much of a stranger, just enough not to piss me off." she answered, and then took another drink.

Well, how much whiskey was inside her now? She can't remember.

"I see." with a girl like June, her bark was probably worse than her bite. Although--Iroh wouldn't object to feeling the latter. He poured her another drink and noticed the bottle was empty.

"It's getting a late, don't you think?"

[ Insert Iroh carrying June back because June-mun sucks and forgot to c+p the last part. :B ]
