To think some of her rivals said tea was for cowards.
"What was it?"
He watched her drink the tea in a gulp with a raised eyebrow and refilled both of their cups. Impressive. He studied her carefully as she asked the next question, and chuckled slightly in response.
"Ganados. and invasion of vicious, human like creatures called Ganados. They looked half-dead, and they were infected with some sort of disease. Nasty things--but flammable." He had come to defend the castle with the rest of them--and if nothing else it had been proof that he still had the firebending skills of a general.
Albiet, an old general. "They stormed the castle--but vanished for apparently no reason one day. You may be bored now, but if I were you I'd enjoy the quiet--I find there's nothing nicer than enjoying a hot cup of tea on a peaceful day." That wasn't entirely true--there were nicer things he could think of doing, but they currently weren't up for discussion.
"Expected that from you," said the hunter as she took back her filled cup, giving it yet another swirl. Well, this was strangely soothing, especially after she decided to trash a few things while walking around to toss a few aggressions-misplaced, maybe, but it was good, and so was this, strange enough.
First she switches worlds, and next she was drinking tea with Iroh. What was next, a frilly, formal white and/or pink gown to wear everytime she goes out? No, please. June would rather go around in lingerie than go around in the said clothing. Or die. That was a nice option. Almost pretty, infact.
June's ears perked up as she heard the answer to the question from awhile ago. She nodded her head.
"Sad I missed it, then. Maybe nexttime I'll have some fun, if they come back." And she was serious about this-the hunter just wished she had some nice weapons with her. Pity they all disappeared.
"Yes well, Paradisa is full of interesting occurances. We've had homicide, giant invisible monsters...we even had a masquerade. Although I have a feeling that wouldn't have been something you'd be too interested in."
He sipped more slowly at his tea this time before asking his next question. "What news do you remember from the nations--from back home?" He was curious to see what exactly she knew. It seemed these days everyone from their world came with a different story.
A masquerade? That's a relief. She didn't have to dress up stupid if it was mandatory to go to the said fancy ball, she thought. "First two'd be a maybe," June paused for a moment to take a sip from her teacup, and then she placed it down, back on the smaller plate where it was to rest if not held, "But the third one's a definite no, but of course, you answered that yourself." said the hunter as she looked towards the older one.
"Back home? Oh. Simple: Fire Nation looking for the Avatar, the world slowly getting engulfed by them. Nothing new, really." She answered, as if saying the obvious, but hey, Uncle Lazy asked.
"Say, I don't see Angry Boy. He isn't dead now, is he?" She was curious, really-she expected Zuko grumbling at the corner, or practicing somewhere else but show up later on.
"I see." She had mentioned nothing about Ba Sing Se. That was interesting. He decided he would let the matter rest for the moment, and decided to deal with her next question instead.
"Zuko is here." He took another long sip of tea, to delay his response. "But he and I are...estranged. We have different ideas about what side of the war is the right side--I'm afraid he's his father's son more than my nephew." He kept his face devoid of any revealing expression--his lie was necessary, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable. Still, one did what they must for the good of all.
Of Blue Flames: Well, that wasn't expected. June always thought that the little firebender was attached to his uncle like a little puppy to its owner-apparently, honor really isn't real if it was what Zuko wanted from gaining the Avatar. Afterall, backstabbing your very own blood was pretty much the lowest thing in the world; dirtiest, even.
Too bad.
"Y'know, since you guys pretty much aren't home, and can't," She raised her tea cup to finish it off for a second time, then placed it down again, "Screw it."
And she sighs, "Call this friendly advise."
He raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly. "Friendly advice? Why June, I didn't know you had it in you to be friendly.."
He found himself staring, so he diverted his eyes back to the small fire still glowing on the floor. He always kept a fire burning in his room for tea. As he stared in the flames, he found himself reminiscing about his younger days--strange, he never minded being old. Except around her. He chuckled slightly to himself before meeting her eyes again.
"Zuko is a troubled boy. Much has happened since we last met--and I've found that I'm unable to continue fighting against the avatar. Zuko though..." He didn't like doing this injustice to his nephew. Moments like these made being a collected, clever general extremely difficult. "Zuko is obsessed with his own rank and honor."
"What, it's just you and me; milk it." was all the hunter asked as she placed her other elbow on the table, raising her hands to thread together, and then lean on the said hands outer palms, "No one I know's here anyways." she added. Usually, June didn't care about things like this, especially if it was a clients or some sorts, but since she was in Paradisa.. she thought she would just enjoy it, for now. The second she goes home, the second she could just bury it all behind her head.
"Tired, huh?" was all the bounty hunter asked. Even some professionals wanted a rest-June just didn't stop until she had enough to live. If she stopped, no more food, no more life. Nothingness, period.
He couldn't stop himself from grinning. "Me? Tired? You'd be surprised at the energy I have--even in this old age. My fire still runs hot, June. I would tell you to keep yourself from being burnt but..." He paused, and for emphasis ignited a small flame on his palm. "But it doesn't seem like you're afraid of playing with fire."
"Family matters aside..." He couldn't trust her enough to tell her the truth about Zuko, and lying remained unpleasant. "What do you plan to do to keep yourself entertained in Paradisa?"
So he was being sensitive, eh? That was fine, she thought as she looked towards the dancing flame, and deciding to watch it for now. It was nice, oddly enough-maybe there was more life when firebenders do it, than just igniting one herself.
But what did June care about fire, anyways?
"Don't know yet," answered the bounty hunter, cocking her head to the side slightly, "Probably gonna look for an exit, or just act like a queen for once. Never lived in a place like this."
Dragons Love Tea: "You know, I'll be here to keep you company--whenever you're bored. There's a lovely restaurant in the city you might be interested in. I'd be happy to show you. But I'd be even happier to show you the bar next door." He chuckled and gave her a rougish smile.
"And if you do find the exit, make sure you take me with you. I'd be so lonely if you left. Now--care for some more tea?" He motioned to the pot.
"The latter sounds better," said June as she smirked, and then raised the small cup towards him, just to have one more cup. Just one, really. She'll leave and explore after this last one, and look for that bar Iroh said, "Also. Sounds like you wanna go out with me, y'know."
She shook her head slightly, "Bottoms up, then let's have something stronger, then."
Dragons Love Tea: "Smart and beautiful." He grinned and poured her another cup. "What I'm doing is requesting the pleasure of your company in the future. Call it what you may."
He poured himself another cup as well, and leaned back in his chair. It was a very lovely view from where he was sitting. He smirked into his cup as he had another long sip.
After the cup was filled, June raised the cup, only to finish it off after a few seconds. She then placed it back on the coaster, and then stood up on both feet, intending to move out-but not to explore. She could reserve that for later.
In her mind, it was all 'bar' time for her. Maybe there'd be some entertainment.
"Wanna go now?" she asked, deciding to go out with him now instead of later. She wanted the direction early, too.
He watched her rise and cursed himself mentally--he had already made plans to teach his nephew the next steps of lightning bending that night. He had to prepare...he was almost tempted to blow it off but...
Well, saving the world from Azula was important. Even more important than a date with a cute bounty.
A really, really cute bounty hunter.
He sighed slightly and smiled, trying to hide his frustration. "You've caught me at a bad time June. Perhaps I can take you up on that offer tomorrow?"
"Yeah, sure." said the bounty hunter before she gave the older firebender a small wave, as in 'goodbye, see you nexttime' kinda thing.
June laughed just slightly, lips quirking once again as she turned around to face him, "Room 619. Don't be too late." She stated before she walked out the door, disappearing down the hallways and whatsnot.
