Living off nothing but various bugs and other small woodland creatures he managed to catch around the castle the last few days, Wonderweiss had felt it was time to earn his meals another way. If he whined loud enough, he knew nobody would ignore him for too long. Indeed, the offers to fetch him something from the kitchen came rather quickly. Much easier than he expected.
Quickly jumping at the knock toward the door, Wonderweiss shoved it open harshly in his rush and tumbled into the hallway. "Gau!" The small arrancar glanced up at Henry from the floor, violet eyes dazed and showing surprise. "Foooood?" he asked anxiously, giving the man a large, buck-toothed grin and tugging at his pants leg.
Henry jerked backward as the door flew open, taking a step or two back into the hall before he managed to calm himself. His nerves were practically shot after his time in the Other World, and even something so simple as a door flying open tended to make him jump nowadays.
It was just a kid. A hyper one, no doubt, but then again what kid wasn't? Especially when they were hungry. Perhaps, had Henry been capable of seeing that the kid's eyes were violet he might have been a little more startled, but to him it was just another person in the flat monochrome his world had become. The tall man looked down at the small person who was now tugging at the leg of his jeans and gave a hesitant, weak sort of smile.
Nothing to be afraid of. Just a hungry kid.
"Yeah, uh, I got your food," Henry stammered in response. He crouched down and leveled the tray, complete with multiple covered dishes, where the seated kid could see it.
"Ooh!" Excited, Wonderweiss made a grab at the closest plate, grubby little hands burying themselves into a pile of mashed potatoes. The variety of dishes on the tray was enough to keep him interested, but when it came to food he was never picky. Trying to greedily shove both potato covered hands into his mouth at once, more food ended up smeared on his face than in his mouth.
Straining his tongue to lick the traces he could reach off his chin, Wonderweiss turned his attention back to the delivery man, head cocked to the side as he stared inquisitively. Sitting up a bit straighter, the hole through the arrancar's chest became more evident as he leaned forward, prodding at Henry's face with sticky fingers. Pushing at the sides of his cheeks, Wonderweiss smashed them inwards, giggling with delight at the funny face it produced.
Wow, so the kid was really hungry. Henry's slightly obsessive-compulsive nature cringed at the mess the boy was making (and out in the middle of the hallway too!) but who was he to correct the kid? He was here to play delivery boy, not Mother.
All worries about the mess disappeared in an instant, though, when the kid shifted. Henry's heart dropped to the pit of his stomach at the first glimpse of the hole through the boy's chest. The man had to gulp hard to keep from letting out a squeak of terror.
Oh Jesus what the hell IS this kid?
So utterly distressed was he by this new bit of information that Henry didn't even mind when the kid began to poke at his face with gooey fingers. Even if he had minded, what was he going to do? For all he knew the boy was some sort of ghoul or something (he's like the nurses oh SHIT) and the last thing he needed was to piss him--it?--off.
