[someone stumbles up onto the castle grounds, into the garden, covered with dirt and looking a bit worse for wear. not that she's ever... not... looking worse for wear, but hey.

she's really tired, but when she notices that there's a giant castle in front of her, she straightens right up in surprise and confusion.]

Oh, I'm... back here again? How ( Read more... )

[The voice on the other end is overenthusiastic and bubbly, as if being in a place which basically kidnapped people from other dimensions is the best thing that's ever happened to him.]

You're back? Ah, welcome back! I'm afraid I can't tell you how long you've been gone, because I've only been here or a short while myself. Very short while. Like several days.

But good to know that you're back safe and sound! Wouldn't have you getting lost out there in the unknown world we live in, hmmm?

Oh... [o-okay, which parts of that were important?] Thank you.

But I've already gotten lost. [but then she adds, quickly--] Though I'm, you know, here and all now, so I guess I'm not lost anymore, so it's... okay.

You're welcome.

[A little hum of contentment.] That's good to hear. Though, out of curiosity, did you discover anything out there in the deep dark wilderness? Or did you find nothing at all?

I found that this forest isn't trying to eat people. Which was... nice.

[she tries to think. she's seen so much forest lately and frequently suffers from hallucinations, so it's hard to remember when weird things really happen.]

I don't remember very much else being strange. I'd meant to go out, I think, and... see if there were other places besides here. But I guess I went in a big circle on accident.

Oh, well then. Do they usually eat people? Because that's not a very common trait of forests, I don't think.

...Hmmm. Maybe the forest confused you somehow. Maybe it turned you the wrong way because it realized you were close to its secrets. Or maybe you simply got lost.

They do where I am from. But people say that there's something, um... wrong with them.

[oh, wow.] I-I didn't even think of that. ...It sounds better than getting lost...

Ah, some sort of curse? Makes sense.

You never know! Sometimes the most simple things in life are the most complex, yet we just don't have enough comprehension to think about them that much.

That's what some people say, yeah.

[...she sounds a little curious.] Are you a scholar? Or a priest?

Neither, actually. I'm an angel.

[Said as if this is a totally normal profession.]

... What's an angel?

[she has no idea what that is. C:]

You don't know what an angel is? Well then, let me inform you.

You know how there's an almighty benevolent God who looks over mankind and forgives their sins? Me and my brothers, we work for him, spreading His Word across the land and making sure human beings receive everything as they deserve to.

[D:]

You know, the one and only God. ...Unless you don't have one?

... Oh! No, no, um... We have a lot, where I'm from. Nine of them.

I just thought ... There's only one where you come from? That does everything?

[well, this moves him down from crazy to vaguely eccentric!]

Ooh, nine of them? Rather like the old gods back where I come from. That makes sense.

Yes, of course! He is almighty and powerful. He can do whatever He wishes to do. Me and my brothers, we serve Him and help Him whenever He needs it.

[He can work with vaguely eccentric!]

Do you actually... know him?

[because that's what it sounds like and she would kind of believe it at this point.]
