OBSTACLE ONE: THE RIVER

There's an underwater river right below the ledge they're standing on, and the next ledge is a bit too far to jump. Good thing there are two ways across: either swing across the ropes that hang midway across the chasm, or climb down, ford the river, and climb back up again. It looks climbable enough.

If you go by water, though, mind how long you're in it -- it's very, very hot, and there's something in the water that looks suspiciously like a giant octopus.

[ jet grabs the nearest rope, testing its strength. of course he's going to swing across. ]

Doable. I'll test it first, and anyone small enough can hitch a ride with me next.

Do you think it can get everyone across?

[considering that he can't swim at all]

I hope so...

Me too...that water looks unsafe.

Ah- that's good at least!

Should do, once they're sturdy enough. Not the best idea to get wet when there's nowhere to dry off.

Ah, you're right.

I'll stay here. I don't mind swinging on a rope, but I can help give pushes to anyone who needs them.

[ he nods. ] We have a couple kids here who might need the help.

[ totally swinging across now. ]

[Nod.] And if anyone else needs a ride, I'm game.

We've got a couple kids with us, right? [ he looks around. ]

Yep. I can handle a bit of weight too, so I can take the older ones. [She's done this before....]

[ she certainly looks like she means business. he pulls on the rope again. ]

I just hope these things can take the weight.
