[You know what the outside of the fort is like -- you've been waiting out there for some time.]

[now that Ray knows they won't have to pack everything up and move it - again - he'll be setting up his own little sleeping area down by the lake. no tent yet, though - he didn't bring one of those, and he'll have to share if anyone feels gracious enough]

Geez. She was really somethin' ...! I wonder if she's been here a really, really long time, or if she just sorta showed up like we did?

I don't think she's from here...she looked a bit like someone that used to reside at the castle.

Her species, anyway.

I think it started with an F...she worked at the Deathmatch, I believe. But I didn't go in there very much.

{And she shot me once, but let's not mention that part to Jr who gets very emotional about silly things like that]

I get the impression most of the people here have been brought in by the castle. Her and Flora and others who dwell in the Dead Zone, however, have been here much much longer. Flora herself indicated that some of the Outsiders have been here for decades.

Yeah? [he looks back and forth between Felix and Allen as he shakes out his sleeping bag] ... Outsiders, those're the First Generation everyone's been going on about, right?

Mm, that's right.

People who came before us...but for some reason left the castle to live in the Dead Zone and left no trace that they were ever there.

I wonder what made some've em hate us so damn much. [rummages around in his pack, and --- sudden onset of ADD is go]

Hey, you know what we should do? We should get a fire going!

That is precisely what I hope to learn from Lente. If not the whole truth, then at least a clue. It seems she at least has contact with some of them.

Mm, yeah. Though if she's like the others...she probably won't tell us much.

I haven't built my own fire since Boy Scout camp, so ... I'd probably set half the shore on fire or just end up with a bunch of useless sticks. [he chuckles]

... What's the most anyone's ever gotten out of someone from the first generation, anyway? Was it that woman out at the Well? ... Flora, right?

As far as I know, yes. Other than that Reno Browne, woman, but that occurred before I arrived, so I am less certain of the details.

And yeah, Flora does try to help...but her loss stops her from revealing a lot.
