Well, things have been a bit -- muddled -- since I was arrived, but I attributed that to the castle not wanting me to know what was coming.

But these -- it's almost as though it's looking for something that it can't find.

Exactly. And it can't find it, or the residents won't give it what it needs, or don't have it to give.
