[the Weighted Companion Cube--parked outside its door--had just had an interesting and worrying experience, so its mind was buzzing. All sorts of little thought-blips were appearing on the page, typing silently along in an erratic way]

I have been here for a long time. long time how would I judge a long time I think it is something I heard

You are changing. It is a common effect of Paradisa to change its residents.

[the Weighted Companion Cube liked familiar things. That voice was familiar]

Residents are people who live somewhere. [if it remembered correctly]

Am I a resident? I do not live.

Technically, neither do I. To exist with an awareness of one's self in a place is to reside in that place - by that definition, both you and I are residents.

I... [a pause as it couldn't complete the thought]

Learning is the best way to understand humans and their society.

[the Weighted Companion Cube is happy, and does not know what a loss is]

Wybie.

It is Wybie.

Wybie is speaking to me again.
