the second sunrise

Aug 20, 2009 20:03

[For anyone in the vicinity, there is a big (all right, kinda average sized), white wolf napping in the flora populace of the garden. It has been a long day filled with exploring and running around. There seemed to be no sign of the silly prophet or her little bouncy travel companion anywhere in this place. Perhaps this "Paradisa" had yet to bring ( Read more... )

[Sarah is doing what she does best - wandering. The library kept her attention for a while, but the weather was just too nice to not take advantage of. When she stumbles upon the white wolf, she can't help but smile - she's a gorgeous creature.

after simply watching for a few moments, sarah has to speak up. perhaps it was a talking wolf, and how would she know if she didn't wake up?]

... Hello?

[There's no response for a moment other than the movement of flowers due to a moving tail. After a brief few seconds a pair of ears perk forward and the wolf raises her head, yawning a great big yawn before blearily looking over towards whoever had stumbled over and brought her from a relatively decent slumber.

Making a quiet sound of something that could be likened to that of sleepy greeting in the girls direction, Amaterasu keeps to a steady gaze on the girl. Watching her carefully. ]

Hello there. [She moves a bit closer, cautiously - just in case - and sits cross-legged on the grass.]

You're a wolf, aren't you? [yep, stating the obvious] Can you talk? I would expect talking animals in a place like this.

[She still hasn't gotten used to just how cautious people have been around her... Though it's not like she can fault them for it.

With a tilt of her head she continues to watch and shakes her head to the question. No, she is unable to talk. However! Bowing her head to dip her muzzle into the flowers, she pulls a piece of paper that had been there - it's best not to ask where she got it - and motions for the girl to take it.

She at least knows one other way to communicate.]

Oh... [she's only slightly disappointed, until the wolf reveals the piece of paper.]

Oh, I see. You can't speak, but you can understand what I'm saying. [gingerly takes the paper] Is this how you, um... communicate?

[The wolf glances to the paper that is now in the girls hand and, drum roll please, takes to the use of the Celestial Brush. Then suddenly...words!

That would be correct. It has taken quite a long time to learn, but now it comes easily to speak with others in this way.]

[laughs in surprise] What a clever wolf you are.

I'm Sarah - what's your name?

[She offers a wolf-smile at that.

Amaterasu.]

That's a lovely name. [repeats it to herself, softly] Amaterasu.

There aren't any wolves like you back home - although, it would be more interesting if there were. Where do you come from?

[Ah, is that so?

Amaterasu is slightly relieved at the fact that there are no other wolves such as herself wherever this girl is from. It would just be a little odd to be told such things. With a small yawn the wolf moves to a sitting position now.

A land called Nippon and also the Celestial Plain. The wolf looks to the girl. And what of you, Sarah? Where are you from?

It is. The wolves at home are wild, you see - they would never let a person get as close to them as I am to you. And I'm almost positive that, although they might understand humans a little, they can't answer back.

I'm from a country called the United States... um, on the continent of North America.

Is it nice there - in Nippon, and the Celestial Plain?

[Surprisingly? Amaterasu is actually staying away during the girl's talking; her expression seems to turn a little sleepy but the wolf is doing her best to keep away. Because it is a little confusing all the same.

The United States? North Ameriwhat? The wolf's head tilts in confusion before looking down with a quiet snort. She would have to ask about that. Soon, soon.

Yes. Both are. The wolf looks to the girl, tail smacking to a few more flowers. It's been awhile since I've last been to the Celestial Plain...it is where I had been heading before arriving here.]

Oh. [offers a sympathetic smile - she'd like to pet her, perhaps, but isn't sure if such an intelligent creature would appreciate things like being petted] It seems this castle brings people here at the worst times. Although, I was only sleeping when I woke up here.

[hides a smile] You've never heard of the United States, have you?

[Oh, feel free to pet her, Sarah. Those types of things? Are in the top tier of 'What Amaterasu Likes.'

This castle is an intriguing place, one must admit. Something about it perks my curiosity. She pulls from the canvas to shake her head to the posed question. No, I have not. May I ask what it is like?

And despite asking? She might wind up falling asleep if the girl does quench the wolf's curiosity, though. Bad habits die hard.

Well, apparently it brought us here on its own... or so I've heard. That seems intriguing in itself.

[pauses for a moment] The United States is a country, like I said... and a lot of people live there - the total population is in the high millions, I think. And within the country is a bunch of states, and within those are towns and cities. None are like Paradisa, though.

The town I'm from is... rather boring, actually. There are some stores and things like that, and a very nice park. But some of the other cities, like New York, are amazing. It has buildings as tall as the sky, and wonderful museums.
