[Sam has been kind of worried about his brother. He hasn't heard from him since before his loss ended. He figures now's as good a time as ever to go and see how he's doing. But as he turns to actually look at Dean's door, he hears Cooper whining on the other side, and sees that the nameplate was gone. He doesn't want to believe it, so he pushes

[a bit of a sigh] Dean went home, Dad.

[a long, stunned pause, then a deep sigh, obviously sad]

Damn it.

[imnot_likeyou]

Yeah. [Sam too, especially since Sam knows all too well what he's going back to] He might be back though. Never know with a place like this.

[winchester_john]

[unfazed] Yeah. Never know.

[pause]

If you...don't wanna be alone, you know where to find me.

[imnot_likeyou]

[he'd been saying that he wanted to be alone to everyone else, but this was his father. A bit of a pause before]

Wanna get a beer?

[winchester_john]

[Slight pause of his own, because truthfully John doesn't want to be alone himself, and he kind of wants his youngest close, having just lost his oldest to the castle's whimsy]

Yeah...truth be told, I really would.

Wanna stick to the castle or head out towards the city?

[winchester_john]

[another deep sigh, shuffling as he gets to his feet restlessly]

How 'bout we head on into the city? I could use some fresh air all of a sudden.

[a bit of shuffling himself]

I'll be in the lobby in a couple minutes.

[winchester_john]

I'll be there.

[Have a timeskip to about five minutes later, with John walking into the lobby as he shuts his journal and shoves it into his back pocket.]

[Sam's down there a little while after, giving his dad a small smile as he made his way closer]

Hey.

[winchester_john]

[Turning at the sound of Sam's voice, John manages a small smile of his own as he meets him halfway]

Hey, Sammy...ready?

[nods a bit]

Ready when you are.

[Running out for the afternoon, but I should be back to tag sometime tonight. :D]

[Nods and gestures for Sam to go first, following him as they walk out the door.]

[Not a problem, mein friendly friend! :p]

[slides his hands into his pockets and goes. Is quiet for a while before speaking up again, figuring conversation was better than awkward silence]
