[and here, have a Sam + puppy! But the puppy is a little over eager, and she goes running across the beach towards Claire, not exactly giving a lot of credence to what she may be running over]

[And there goes the great beach sandtower of Paradisa, destroyed by a puppy. Claire doesn't seem to notice, as there is a PUPPY.]

Hi, puppy. Good girl, running off from Sam like that. Too tall, huh?

[Alice gives her a dopey doggy grin, before starting to shake off the sand, as Sam starts to catch up to them]

Sorry about your -- castle?

[She smiles up at Sam, petting Alice... oh yeah. That.]

Oh. It's fine, I was just messing around.

[nods a bit, while Alice just soaks up the attention. Sam looks around for a minute before speaking again]

Not bad for an indoor beach.

It's pretty nice. If you close your eyes, it's easy to think you're at a real one. [she looks out at the water for a moment] Maybe you don't even need to do that. It's pretty convincing.

Yeah, it is. [deep breath, looking around] Man, I haven't been on a beach since I was back at Stanford.

It's too bad this place is only open twice a week.

[she gets up, letting go of Alice and brushing some sand off her legs] And I kept my part of the deal. There are pies with the rest of the food. Just for you.

[grins a bit]

I would have shown up without the pie, Claire.

[she smiles]

Then I'll just take that pie back.

Jeez, make up your mind.

[laughs] I'm just saying that you didn't have to bribe me with the pie. I would have come with or without it. But since you came with it --
