[the Weighted Companion Cube is in the doorway of its room, as if someone had dropped it off as luggage. Beside it, a journal lay open, printed words silently appearing as if there was an invisible typewriter typing away with each inanimate thought.]

...Where am I?

Where did the fire go?

I do not understand.

[:O Nine just happens to be wandering by, and he glances at the Companion Cube curiously] Erm, fire? ...You're in Cair Paradisa now. Magic castle, different planet, space-time nexus, etc. What sort of robot are you, out of curiosity?

[the Weighted Companion Cube just sits there silently, unable to move or speak, but the words continue to appear on the pages of the journal beside it.]

...Robot?

I am the Weighted Companion Cube.

[...Excuse the Doctor while he laughs for a few moments] Companion Cube, hm? Fantastic! I'm the Doctor, pleasure to meet you.

[the last time someone spoke to the Companion Cube as if it could answer, turned out to be quite insane. So, the Companion Cube is nervous...and still does not realize that it is actually in a conversation.]

Being a Weighted Companion Cube is 'fantastic?'

I do not understand.

Doctor. Name or concept? I am not sure.

I wonder if he will pick me up.

[Zuko's just walking along, gazing at the journal as he makes his way back to him room after yet another night of flinging his swords about. he's passing by a few floors, not really minding anything in particular... until a certain something catches his attention from the corner of his eye.

a strange box. just... placed conveniently in front of one of the doors? WHAT. he's simply gazing at it, perplexed, never having seen anything like it before. it couldn't be a gift for one of the residents, could it?]

(ooc. asdfghjkl; sorry about the epic FAIL. I got too excited. >>)

[the Weighted Companion Cube would straighten up taller if it could. Someone was looking at it! It may not understand where it is, but it does know that its job is to be moved around by humans...and there was one now!

In its excitement, a few words appear silently on the page of the journal beside it.]

...I hope!

[ugh, darn it! Zuko's curiosities get the better of him, and upon noticing an open journal next to the... object, he assumes someone's just really that forgetful and left their stuff out of their room.

he looks down at the... object and the journal, and over to the nameplate on the door]

Weighted Companion Cube? Some name.

[again, unintentionally thinking out loud, the letters on the journal spell out the cube's thoughts.]

My name is what I am.

I am a Weighted Companion Cube.

Fire? [Sounds like this thing had it rough before it got here]

There's no fire!

[it could hear a voice, but see no person to make it. Little did it know that the journal beside it was what was relaying someone else's spoken words. No matter. The Weighted Companion Cube was used to disembodied voices that it didn't quite understand...though this one did not sound like the robotic matriarchal voice it was used to.]

There is always fire.

At the end.

Uhh... [nervously, but then reassuringly] Well, it's not the end yet! So don't count on there being any fire! [ >;Db! ]

You new here?

my_six_hearts May 1 2009, 11:45:50 UTC
[being that the disembodied voice normally was always right and dictated everything that 'was,' the Cube took the words to be the utter truth, and was thus reassured.]

I am glad that it is not the end yet. I have not been useful yet.

Am I new here? I do not know where I am.

[of course, the question was a musing one, to itself, since it still did not realize that it was being conversed with.]

[Written, as always]

Fire? What do you mean?

[luckily, the Castle--being the understanding inanimate being that it was--understood the Cube's lack of ability to understand...or even notice...written word. The journal spoke out loud to it, and again the Weighted Companion Cube thought nothing of it, already being used to unexplained disembodied voices.]

Fire. There was fire, and now it is gone.

Did I end? Was I euthanized?

I'm not sure.

But I do know that you are in a place called Paradisa. It's a castle.

['the' voice said it was so, and so it must be. Though, the fact that it was not sure about something was a little unnerving.]

A castle. Castle?

Castle.
Castle.

Chamber? Test chamber?

[ooc: lsjalwetawei dude I put GLaDOS on the request list, I so didn't expect the Companion Cube to pop up XD]

Were you in a fire?

[once more, as it sat in the hall, a voice appeared. It was well used to omnipotent disembodied voices, but certainly not this many different ones.]

Another voice. There must be many.

Fire. I thought I was in it.

I saw it and felt it, and then I was here.

I must have been euthanized. I must have been incinerated.

It didn't hurt this time.

[whether or not the Companion Cube could 'feel' anything, namely pain, was up for debate. But, this term it had learned was the only one that it knew to describe its experiences with.]

There's a journal that acts like a communication device somewhere around you.

S--Someone tried to k-kill you?

my_six_hearts May 1 2009, 23:45:42 UTC
[being that the Weighted Companion Cube had no need for communication devices, being that it could not speak, it disregarded that information. Instead, it thought about the voice's new question...and its memories unwittingly caused more words to appear]It cannot accompany you for the rest of the test and, unfortunately, must be euthanized ( ... )
