[Nathan was waiting for the castle to realize he wasn't twenty-nine anymore, but it seemed set on keeping him at the age he was at. Tapping his fingers against the journal pages he shook his head before starting]

So I suppose I should be pleased that I'm not fifteen, but it seems I'm not quite the correct age.

Aside from not being the right age, everything seems fine. [slight concern] And you? Are you alright?

Your loss didn't end? That's...odd.

Yes, I'm fine.

Well, I'm not fifteen but I'd guess I'm closer to twenty-nine, maybe twenty-eight. I don't have the scar on my chin, so I know it's before I turned thirty.

[gracefulwoman]

...Oh. I see.

Maybe the castle is making up for lost time... I don't think I had a loss when I was here before. It might think I felt left out.

[pauses]

I had a lovely time yesterday.

[gracefulwoman]

I'm glad to hear that. [adult!Inara has her armor back in place]

I think being that young though wore me out, I did actually get some sleep last night. Of course if I had known I'd wake up like this I might've stayed up later just to watch it happen.

I imagine that it would have been a fascinating sight.

It has actually, I wanted to thank you, but apparently being fifteen sort of shifted my focus off of appreciation of kindness and onto appreciation of other things.

I've been trying to just not think about things I can't control here. I've been so focused on what was going on before I got here and I think it was wise to be honest, but leaving it behind might be the best for now.

[a pause because, well, she's trying very hard not to think about all the things Daphne said about Nathan and what he's been doing. At least what was unfiltered, which, wasn't much, just what she said to Adam]

That's the best attitude to take, I think.

I hope it is, I know it's not easy for people to put aside things like this, but others have been given a shot at a rest here. I just hope the same applies to a jerk. [nervous laugh]
