003 ✈cold comforts

Mar 09, 2009 10:20

[Nathan just shaved... slightly off put by the pink hues of his room and the plastic of his furniture but he'd already heard a few of the journal entries talking about the discomfort and assumed it was just one of those things he'd read about. You can hear the tapping of the razor against the side of the sink and the water running. He switches it ( Read more... )

...No. However, I have...some unique issues, of my own.

[slightly surprised to hear Inara since he was pretty sure he'd managed to insult/hurt/upset her the last time they spoke]

Other than the decorator on pink overkill issues? I'm not even sure the wedding in Steel Magnolias had this much pink.

[thought concerned he asks]

May I ask, what unique issues you're dealing with?

[ooc: 1pm checkout at the hotel is win]

I'm blonde. [a beat] Which I am not, usually. And not only am I blonde but my hair feels...artificial. All of my clothing is pink, as is my makeup...which does not come off of my face, no matter how much I wash.

[sort of relieved she's not blonde normally and nods which he realizes the journal can't pick up on]

That does sound distressing at the very least. I've read a few other entries and it seems that at least you're not the only one having to go through this, not that it should be a consolation.

I just seem to have facial hair that appears with cold water and disappears with warm water. Though my hair itself does seem... a bit more unruly than normal. I haven't gotten past the shaving mishap though to even try and run a comb through it.

It does seem a bit ... consistent recently to say the least. Yesterday was rather amusing.

You're the first male I've heard describe it as amusing, the poor things.

[laughs]

I suppose it was rather annoying, but I've been married, a father, and a politician. I'm used to unusual demands that need to be met and being put up to difficult tasks that not many would feel up to dealing with.

Plus I don't sleep too much these days, the straw bed just didn't get used.

Why is it that you don't sleep much, Nathan?

Being here... I thought I knew what I was doing back home. I'd been through a lot to get to a certain breaking point, before I realized what needed to be done. Now though, it's a different feeling to look back and wonder if I'm in over my head too far now to go back.

[rubs his fingers to his forehead for a moment but then drops his hand to run it through his hair which... is very odd feeling]

Just too many thoughts that I can't put aside at night, because being away from what I was doing makes me question too many things.

I see.

You should try to sleep, Nathan.

Maybe I should cut back on the coffee... or switch to decaf.

I've a lovely blend of tea that may help.

That would be very kind of you Inara.

Even though you don't care for tea?

I'm fairly certain that at this point I should be open to trying anything that might help.
