[dictated]

What happened the other day... I'm sorry for your loss. I realize I have... admittedly absolutely no idea what went on, being fairly new, but I...

Ah.

You have my condolences.

[a little later, sounding a bit less solemn...]

Sooo... it seems to me that there's absolutely nothing in this library on the planet itself. ... I'm right, ( Read more... )

[eyebrow raise] How long have you been in that library?

Personal experience of what? Sentient castles with an intent to drive you insane?

I meant, ah... this one in particular, really.

Considering we're all trapped here, I'd say we were all having a 'personal experience' of this place.

[slightly impatient sigh] I mean -- the people who have been here longer, who have experienced it, had the chance to see what else is out there and try to figure this planet out... there's got to be someone.

What sort of questions?

xthchance February 11 2009, 23:08:16 UTC
Well, frankly, anything and everything about this place. How long people have been showing up, how long most of them stay -- I mean, there's got to be some connection in there somewhere. This world; what's beyond this castle, if there's anyone else living beyond the city, where this planet is in relation to the universe, itself -- I know we've all been told it's in a different dimension, but there are still stars out there, entire galaxies. Really, I, ah -- at this point I think I might be asking questions until I'm blue in the face.

[chuckles] They're good questions to ask. Far as I know, and I've been here a few months now, people have been coming and going for years. One of my selves has been here almost two years, now. Nobody remembers a thing when they go home, apparently, because people come back with no memory of being here in the first place, sometimes. [pause] We haven't been able to explore the entire planet, there are barriers in the way, but there's definitely more out there than the town and the castle. There's a forest, and some mountains, but I haven't been out past the mountains, yet. There's an expedition scheduled to leave at the end of the month. ...'Course, it randomly changes, sometimes, which gets a bit confusing. [another pause] Not sure exactly where it is or how it's related...this place isn't exactly generous with the information. Haven't been able to travel up there, either. My ship can't leave the planet, unfortunately.

[... hold on, he's racking up all the things he wants expansion on]

Um... excuse the list. [written!:]
- Selves? You're the one who explained the... Time Lords, aren't you?
- Is there any way of finding out if you've been here before? Looking back through entries, perhaps?
- Barriers? What kind?
And any idea why it can't leave the planet? Or... does that tie in with the barriers?

Magic. [there's an audible 'ffff' - she's not convinced, despite evidence to the contrary]

I've scoured that Library from top to bottom, and not come up with anything. It's most definitely sentient though. I can try and answer any questions, not that two months counts as a veteran, but I think I'm up to speed.

[aheh] I know, I've - it's kind of a stretch for me, too.

[grabs a pen and arrows up to his response to Nine] I'm just aiming to find out anything I can about this place. I'm sure that, considering how long some of these people have been here, some progress must've been made in working it all out. There's gotta be more than just kidnapping and handy wish-granting. I mean -- how does a place like this even start, anyway? An entire planet as a crossroads for different realities... that's amazing. And... slightly terrifying, but I'll be optimistic here.

There is more, [reading through what Nine had to say as she talks], beyond the mountains. Whether what I found is actual evidence of any kind of origins is debatable though. Ruins that just appear, there's a strong argument that they were deliberately placed rather than have always been there. I've been slowly hacking away at it, trying to reach some kind of definitive conclusion. It's a slow process, no 'handy dandy' shortcuts I'm afraid.

[this would be gaining you the Epic Eyebrows of Extreme Interest, Professor Song]

So you're saying you've -- actually gone past those mountains and brought back samples? Outside of this... expedition the Doctor mentioned?

Ah -- Doctor Daniel Jackson, a pleasure.

Only since around Christmas, I'm afraid, but I do have rather extensive experience with magic.
