But he ended up in his room, and if he wasn't quite writing on the walls, he was reading a lot of books and trying to sort out how all his dead girlfriends and demons who looked like them kept showing up and if the castle was trying to drive him more insane than he probably already was.

Ah, well. With the castle seeming to go...crazy and people all...Giles tried to kill Spike, I heard and so...Lilah made waffles and it seemed best to stay out of the way.
