Okay. Video game insanity is now gone, right? Which means it's totally time to focus on more important things. Like getting this newspaper off the ground.

Anyone here have any paper experience? Consider themselves exceptionally good at the English language? Have an overwhelming desire to find out what's behind all those locks in the journals? ( Read more... )

What business? Why are you meeting with Lex?

Chloe, what's going on?

He's helping me get the paper off the ground. It's not like we're all born millionaires, after all.

Chloe, he's not a millionaire here. At least, not the same way he was back home. If you want money, you can always ask the castle for some, even if that seems strange.

I've been working hard to try to find a proper building, and I've been working with others to get it renovated. Lex Luthor has no reason to be interested in this paper except to make sure there's nothing that works against him being published. He's playing you.

Okay, Lana, I know you might be suddenly older than me now, but I'm not an idiot. I really, really do appreciate all the work you've put in to obtaining that building, but Lex can run the business side of things way better than I can.

And that'll give me more time to dedicate to my role as editor-in-chief.

I'm not saying you're an idiot, Chloe. But Lex is an expert at playing people, and you haven't seen just what he's done in the future. [ trying to find a way to convince her without spilling the beans ]

If you want someone to run the business side of things, I have enough experience, and I'm not talking about the Talon. I had have a business of my own called the Isis Foundation. I would be much better off handling the business portion rather than the reporting, anyway. That's more your area.

Unless you have the hard facts to convince me, I'm going to keep my word to Lex. Lunch tomorrow to talk things over.

He can't be that bad, Lana. Clark has better taste than that.

You're the one who said that filling you in on the future isn't a smart idea.

You're right, he does. And Clark figures out just how bad he is eventually, all on his own. So do you. Why can't you trust me? I have more of a right to your trust than Lex does.

Okay, point. But I'm sure a smart girl like you could think of something.

But we barely know each other, Lana. I don't know what happens in the future but right now? We're not exactly what I'd call friends.
