[So Cordy is feeling a little left out on the local gossip. Which means -- chatty yet possibly awkward Cordelia entry is go!]So. Holidays are coming up. Anyone planning on doing anything for Thanksgiving? Castle family get-togethers? I mean, if we're going to have enough leftovers to feed an army, we might as well know where to find them right ( Read more... )

It would be my first Christmas here at the castle so I suppose I'm looking forward to it.

This'll be my third, I think.

Wow. Funny how time flies.

Your third? Damn.

That is a long time to be here.

I don't mind it so much. My whole family was here for a while so -- didn't make me miss home.

[...okay he's seen this brought up a lot by other people and he assumes it's an American thing but might as well ask...]

...What's Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is an American holiday where you eat a lot of food and watch football. Sometimes there's a parade too.

I mean, there's more to it than that, but it basically comes down to what most holidays come down to. Friends, family. Turkey.

Oh, okay. That's what I figured.

Man, you Americans really love your turkey, huh...

To be honest, that's the only time of year I really eat it. Any other time? Way too much effort.

Maybe we'll get to skip it this year. [The kissing she means. If she believed in God she'd be praying for it.]

I kind of like the kissing. It keeps things interesting, at least.

But I can see how it's not for everyone.

Really? I never thought... [Really she assumed everyone who wasn't a teenage boy was uncomfortable with it.]

Who would you want to kiss?

letsbe_clear November 16 2011, 17:39:42 UTC
... I'm not saying it's ideal. Being magically forced to kiss people can be hit and miss, but -- out of the long list of things the castle can do to us? Making us a little uncomfortable because we're kissing people we haven't aimed to is low on the danger scale.

[so she's choosing to be optimistic about it]

I don't know. There are a couple of lookers around here.

Hey! Don't knock my turkey day. It's one of my favorite holidays.

[a beat]

Kissing isn't all that private. It's not like people are going to be doing it in the hallways.

D --> Turkey day
D --> This is sounding more and more absurd, e%plain this holiday to me in further detail
D --> Kissing is very private
D --> It's something only to be done in the confines of ones abode
D --> 100king to do so anywhere else is simply

The pilgrims came to America, but they totally didn't know how to farm or anything like that, so they had no way of getting their food, so the Indians, who were living there at the time, showed them how to farm, and when they had their first harvest, they invited the Indians to come and share their meal with them. This was before they gave the small pox, stole their land and did whatever else, but it was kind of like the first meal of tolerance.

So every year, families in America celebrate that by cooking up a turkey, getting their family and friends together and have this huge meal to honor them.

[a beat to get that out of the way before]

What kind of weirdo planet are you from? People kiss outside the house all the time.

Please tell me there's gonna be food for Thanksgiving.

There better be. It's not Thanksgiving without enough food to make you want to explode.

You and Fred're gonna be doing the cookin', right?

... You don't want to have me touch a stove with a ten foot pole, but I think Fred is definitely cooking.
