[Conan cringes slightly at the sound. He could hear it with his perfect pitch, although his complete lack of relative pitch prevented him from ever replicating music with his voice.]
Then here is a riddle I heard some time ago. A bunch of first graders solved it, so a detective will have no problems, right?
On Napoleon's land two Japanese men built their house. What were the names of the two men? Fuyuno-san,Furuno-san or Fukano-san.
That's right. But that was a simple riddle. Maybe I should think of a more difficult one.
I saw this riddle on a stone just outside of a cave. 'If you walk the path of the dragon a lucky light will shine upon you.' One of the words was written with the character 'to'. What was it referring to?
this one takes him a little bit longer, because he has to roll words around in his head, but with a few mental jumps he's able to get the answer.
He was expecting to have to dance around his loss in these conversations (that was, in fact, the point), but those mental jumps feel so much like basic logic to him that he's not expecting it when the castle cuts him off.
So all you're getting is a coughing fit, little bro.]
[You think that is the worst? Try being stuck as a first grader. And being patted on the head and told to go play when you try to present your deductions.
Conan makes a thoughtful sound.]
This is a riddle that was printed in the papers a few months ago by an annoying retro thief. He likes to give riddles giving the time and location of his thefts.
"From the dusk of the beast, through the dawn of the virgin, When the second hand upon the clock's face hints to the 12th symbol, I will take the Memories Egg from the Shining Sky's Chamber"
The location was Osaka. The target was a Faberge Egg known as the Memories Egg. As for the thief... [Conan trails off in thought. He is also known as International Criminal 1412, the modern Lupin and the Magician under the moonlight. He likes to use magic tricks during this thefts, and is fond of approaching from the air by hang glider. His targets are usually jewels, and he always warns the police and the owners of targets through riddles giving the time and location of the theft.
[silence, and then he starts copying the riddle down in Japanese, right there on the page. it's a slow process -- he's not as well acquainted with the language as he is with, say, French or German, but he doesn't have to go far before he sees what he needs to see. he stops after the first line.
he needs more time to figure out how to word it, though. so he'll nudge the conversation somewhere else.]
And what was the outcome of this particular theft? Successful?
Sorry, most of the riddles I know only make sense in Japanese.

I know some. Likely not enough to do them justice, though.

his response to the riddle is more or less immediate, though. he sounds even more bored, if that were possible.]
