-68- Sleeping With The Television On

[ever since she'd found that her room was right where she'd left it while seemingly the entire rest of the castle had rearranged and changed and shifted around, she hadn't spent much time in it. There was just something about the fact that it was still exactly the same, exactly how it had been for more than two years, that nagged at her.

As she ( Read more... )

[For all her own personal drama she'd been wrapped up in lately, she'd almost forgotten that Faye was here too. It's a little bit of a shock to hear her voice coming over the journal, and you'll have to give her a minute or two to figure out how to actually respond.]

As well as anyone, I guess.

[she can only guess at all that must really mean]

That good, huh?

More or less.

[Cryptic and vague as always. But, hey, it's kind of nice to hear from her.]

[and she quickly runs into that realm of awkward silence that she's tentative to fill with words, because of all the unsaid things that might somehow get caught up and silently go with them. So, instead of trying to dance around uncomfortable things, she decides to go down a completely different path and dodge them altogether]

Are you busy?

[She's had more than her fair share of awkward and uncomfortable lately. More than enough of awkward silences filled with unspoken things that she doesn't dare address. Of threatening to lose her characteristic cool more and more easily.

.... Really, she's never been more grateful for a subject change in her entire life than she is right now. Or for the promise of distraction.]

Not at the moment.

[good, good. she seems just about as ready for a distraction as Faye is]

Have you spent much time in town yet?

I've been there once or twice.

[... She actually ran into Spike there, but we don't have to mention that :|]

Oh, well...

It's not much to see, but it can be alright if you know where to look.

[that's it-- just pretend she's any other newcomer in need of a tour. She can handle this if she just doesn't think too deeply about it]

['If you know where to look,' huh? She'll bite.]

Any suggestions on where to get started?

Well, I was just about to head out and do some shopping. ...I could show you around a little, if you want.

[Shopping. That's something so... normal. Which, of course, feels completely weird to her. But after the month she's had, she could use it.]

I'd like that.

Just what I like to hear. Meet me out by the Redtail?

You might have to start by pointing me there.

It's parked out around the side of the castle. You can't miss it.

[it should be a familiar sight, if anything]

Faye itwas_raining October 14 2011, 23:12:38 UTC
[She'll just have to bank on that.]

Then I'll see you soon.

[luckily, it really is hard to miss. A little piece of home, incongruously hanging around in the pristine castle grounds. It doesn't get much use here, but it at least makes a handy landmark for meeting up with someone.

Faye will take her time in heading down there to meet Julia. She can't seem like she's going out of her way to spend time with someone, after all. So, sooner or later she'll show up, wandering on over as if this was all the most normal and casual thing in the world]
