Case 8: Improbable Musings

Erm, yes. I mean, yes, I think your room would be fine. Definitely.

[Somebody seems more frazzled than usual.]

Nikola Tesla

[And James notices and is curious here.]

Very well it is on the same floor as your own, I have wine. May I ask what the issue is or would you like to be here before you talk about it?

James Watson --> Action!

[thisisprogress]

I'll talk about when I get there.

[And he comes in the door and sits on a nearby chair, looking particularly agitated- but not in a bad way, it seems.]

ACTION!

[jamesholmes]

[And because they never seem to knock the three of them he's not surprised to see Nikola come in, James sitting in a nearby chair himself and looking better then he has in a while.

But that way Nikola is gets him a curious grin.]

Very well then Nikola, what has you in such a state?

[thisisprogress]

[Tesla looks up, as if he's only noticed Watson there, and puts his hand over his mouth for a short moment, looking totally unsure of what he has to say next.]

Er, nothing! Really, it's nothing! I swear.

[A pause.] Okay, it's not nothing. God, I'm still surprised that happened.

[jamesholmes]

[He shouldn't but he does. He laughs some at that reaction, because it's Nikola and him being unsure is hilarious.

And at that? He has an idea of what has the vampire in a knot.]

Dear lord man, did you sleep with someone? [But he will tease him first.]

[Almost immediatedly:] GOD, no! Seriously, James, and I was thinking you were actually mature or something.

No, it's not like that. Er, how do I put this...?

[He takes a deep breath.] I...I may just have, uh, confessed feelings for someone...

[jamesholmes]

[He first grins at the reaction;] I am, but your, entire attitude, speaks volumes my friend.

[Then he looks very much fatherly, Nikola after all was STILL younger then him, he deserved his serious side.

Even if he had an inkling who it was.] Confessed your feelings for someone? I dare think it is not Helen, otherwise you would be dancing and grinning like the cat who got the canary. But you are, unsure then?

[Tesla sees that fatherly look, and slightly sinks in the back of his chair. He always did look up to Watson, even back in Oxford- there was no doubt that he had a deep respect for the man.]

[Even if he embarrassed him asking things like that.]

Hmmph. [He runs his hand through his hair, not meeting James' eye.] No, it's not Helen. And I am sure! I'm sure about her, but...I've never had this before. This whole "relationship" thing.

[And his hand moves to his face.] ...God, why did I think that coming to you for relationship advice would be a good idea?

[jamesholmes]

[James had a habit of looking out for the others, even back in Oxford, as much out of respect as it was to insure they all grew to whatever potential they had.

The fact that he had a sibling...may have helped.

So he watches him and nods slowly at that, yes this was, an unusual conversation to say the least for the two of them, but there were worse things. At least it wasn't about sex.] Yes, I seem to recall that vividly, your, lack of experience in such regards.

[He hands over a bottle of wine as he chuckles though.] Because I am the only one whose relationships have, by and large, ended well and am on good terms with all of them yet. And because you are to embarrassed about this person not being Helen to ask her.

[Then there is a look, somewhere between knowing it all and curiosity.] But to start with, I do need to know who it is Nikola. I can not help you if I do not know that, every person is different.

[thisisprogress]

Don't push it. [He glares slightly at James through his fingers, before taking his hand off so he can take the offer of the wine bottle.]

I'm not that embarrassed, I'm just, I don't know, lacking at the knowledge of this, for a better term? [He opens the wine cork with an audible pop and takes a swig.]

...Okay, fine. But! [And he holds up a finger in warning, looking deadly serious.] If you breath a word of this to anybody I will not talk to you again, thank you.

[jamesholmes]

Of course not. [He holds his hands up in an "I surrender" pose and just watches him. Finding this far more amusing then he should but it is Nikola so it can be forgiven somewhat.]

But of course, and books and movies are no substitute for that. [His hands go down long enough for him to take a sip of his tea before a hand goes up in that familiar position.]

Not a word to another on my word as a gentleman. [And James always meant such a thing.]

Hmmph.

[And he's silent for a minute as he takes a drink of his wine, looking thoughtful.]

...Maladict. I-I told Maladict that I have feelings for her.

[jamesholmes]

[There is only the slightest pause as he takes a sip of his tea, though there is a brief flash of, triumph? Mischief? Smugness? Maybe a mix of it all in his eyes.

But he nods, looking thoughtful.]

Before or after she confessed to you?

After.

[A pause, and he cocks his head slightly at James.]

...Wait, how do you know she confessed?

[jamesholmes]

[He's taking a sip of his tea and then a bite of his oatmeal cookie...and no he is not explaining why he has a plate of them right there.

Then he sighs and taps his head.]

I am a detective, one of you had to confess first is all. Hence before or after.
