[Eventually Spike had to come back to the castle, if nothing else to check on the water damage to his room from that stint a few weeks back. It's as good excuse as any.
Giving someone space when they've got every answer you've been searching for isn't easy. For his part, he managed to keep mostly busy -- even attempted to dig a moat around that cabin in the woods he's been staying at, until it turned out to be more work than it was worth -- but he's long since run out of ideas. He can't even remember the last time he got a restful night's sleep.
Which is to say, he doesn't really know the time when he finally gets there and pulls out a journal.]

Did they change the locks while I was gone? [Apparently he didn't notice the crowd outside was larger than usual. Picked a good time. He's mostly talking to himself when he asks --] Or did someone just pull the fire alarm?
