As if things couldn't get odder in the castle, a vendor is parked in the lobby offering ice creams which are named after castle residents. I don't know whether to be rather amused or mildly disturbed by this. I checked and, yes, even though I've moved away from the castle and am currently residing in town, there is still an ice cream flavour ( Read more... )

When do you need it?

I'll get Fred to let you know. I think she'd prefer to examine it as soon as it's drawn, in case there are any properties which break down within those first few minutes. She'll be testing wished blood as well.

Am I to understand that you can't metabolise animal blood at all?

[ Just because he said, when do you need it, doesn't mean he's down with the synthetic science in general. ]

You're to understand what I'm all right with you understanding. I haven't agreed to this. Why are you doing this?

If you haven't realised it by now, I care about the community at large. Protecting them from threats. If helping you reduces that threat, then it's worth putting my personal feelings aside to work on a solution. It's what I did for a living back home.

It's also one way to try to move past the unpleasantness of the past few months. Damon has made a direct threat to someone very close to me and if the only way to protect her is to make the two of you owe her a favour, then, again, it's worth pursuing.

The point is moot at this point, however, since your brother has decided on your behalf, and rather vehemently, not to accept our help.

Damon does what he wants but don't assume what my brother thinks is what I think.

I know that. But he seems to feel strongly about this. I'd prefer it if you both were on the same page, for obvious reasons.

I also wasn't offering to go behind his back. [ He's done that once. ]

I did get the impression that would be an unwise thing to do.

[Wes sighs and there's the sound of shuffling papers and books being closed.]

If you could let me know either way in the next few weeks, that would be appreciated.

There's a fine line to walk, between being on my brother's side and not. [ That's all he's going to say on the subject. Conversation? Over. ]
