Home Sweet Home?

[It was a small blessing to be in his own 'room' after the... well, horror might be to strong a word and it might not, but horror was the only thing to come to mind, of Felix's room. It gave him insights into his lover's mind he had not known and was not sure he felt comfortable knowing, if only because such information had been so harshly gleaned ( Read more... )

[There's a familiar face knocking on the door that once led to Ashura's room, regardless of whether it is opened or closed.

Unless she has a good reason, Galadriel doesn't enter minds uninvited and she sees no reason to change her policies just because the circumstances are a little different than usual.]

[Ashura paused in shifting to sit and instead straightened and went to the door. He swung it open and smiled when he saw his friend.]

Galadriel.

[He opened the door wider, inviting her in.]

Ashura.

[She enters, smiling in return.]

This is your home, then, or something like it?

Something like it. It is more... romanticized, I suppose. The way I wish my home had been and the way I saw it as a child. Parts are missing and things I wish had been added are, but I know it all the same.

[He shuts the door behind her and motions for her to come take a seat at the low table and pillows where tea was waiting to be served.]

[It's a new sort of arrangement for her, but she seats herself with her usual grace all the same.]

I experienced much the same. Several places of importance to me were bound together. It both is and is not.

[He nods.]

I am content to remain on this level, though. The forest... unnerves me, a bit, and the Castle of the Moon... I have no desire to see those memories.

I cannot fault you for that. We all have matters that we would prefer not to revisit.

[Again he nods, sadly, pouring tea for his guest and stirring more sugar into his and cream. He sips the liquid, seeming to take courage and comfort in it.]

Well, I suppose I now get my wish to show you my home world - or at least, some of it.

And I am glad of it. [She looks about as she sips the tea.] I spoke rightly when I said this place would seem familiar. I have known few outside my realm who dwell within trees.

Well, it is not precisely IN the tree. More like we are in parts of it and not? It is hard to explain sometimes. It was built so long ago that no one remembers HOW it was built at all, so I suppose it is a good thing that my castle has never seen fit to fall and the elder tree has not given it up.

[He chuckled around his tea, sipping with a king's air before reaching out to pick one of the small tea snacks, candied nuts, sucking the sugar off before biting into the protein rich nut.]

You need not worry about that, I think. It is likely that after so long your elder tree is as fond of you as you are of it. Well treated, forests become allies and friends, as much as homes.

[He nodded.]

I miss the forest and the river. They were lush and green. I remember going into them as a child with my parents.

[She smiles at that.]

You have lived your whole life here, then?

[He nodded, offering her some of the sugared treats.]

Born and raised here in this palace, in that world.

[She'll accept a few, trying them hesitatingly at first.]

It is difficult for me to imagine. I have traveled so far in my lifetime.
