[When Alan reenters his room, he has to stop and stare, take a look back through the door. No, still in the castle - so this isn't some kind of world change. But what is it?] Seeing this happen to other people and knowing it's happened to you isn't quite the same as seeing it for yourself.
[Anyone who enters his room will find an
ENCOM ID Badge either clipped to their clothing or attached to a lanyard around their neck. The name they go by is on the ID Badge, as well as a picture of them. Most will find that they have Group 7 Clearance - the lowest level of access. His acquantainces have Group 6 Clearance, and his best friends and loved ones have Group 5 Clearance.
Upon entering, you find yourself in
ENCOM's meeting room. There's a large window, and if you were looking outside, you'd see a large
cityscape at night. Spread out on the table are business plans and Alan's iPad, and on a nearby screen is ENCOM's stock progress. Alan is seated near the head of the table, looking through the papers for something. You can stop and take a look around - maybe try to help him find what he's looking for or ask him some questions of your own. Behind Alan is an elevator.
If you step inside, there are only two buttons: 7 and 6. You're already on floor 7, but if you take the elevator down to floor 6 then you find yourself in a
sea of cubicles. Faceless people sit in each terminal, working on their computers. If you don't have Group 6 Clearance, they'll try to usher you out or call for security to bring you back to floor 7. Three cubicles away from a bright red door, Alan sits
working at his terminal. He's about twenty years younger than he is at Paradisa, and he's munching on popcorn. A picture of Kevin Flynn, Kevin's wife Jordan Canas, and young Sam Flynn is in a frame next to another picture of Alan and his wife, Lora Baines. He'll answer your questions, but you'll need to get his attention first. Periodically a
coworker will peek his head over the cubicle to ask for popcorn, to which Alan will agree.
If you proceed through the red doors, you'll find yourself in a back alley with a
large metal door in front of you. Off to the side is an
access panel. If you hold up your ENCOM ID Badge, the panel will scan your badge; it will report an error and call security if you don't have the proper clearance. If you have Group 5 Clearance, the door will
slowly swing open to reveal the Flynn Lives Headquarters. Inside, present-day Alan and the
coworker from before are working on computers (albeit dressed down from their normal business attire), with Flynn Lives paraphernalia and confidential ENCOM files scattered around (not to mention an ever-present bowl of popcorn). There's an extra computer already at the Flynn Lives
website and they'll look up to speak with you rather than having to be disengaged from their activities.]
[So come on in, take a look around in this programmer's head. You can find the real Alan doing the same thing.]
((If you're not sure what clearance you have, PM me here on is0latedthinker or send me an IM at lonasaur! An opt-out for the ID badge would be a guest pass.))
