[The journal catches the beginning of a piece being played on the violin, but that music stops as soon as it starts. Then there are more attempts, slightly different each time. An octave higher. An octave lower. Maybe a note or two lengthened.]

...Playing music is one thing, but composing music is another.

[is there, despite her resolve to avoid the music room as much as possible.

some inclinations don't go away easily]

It's a start. You can't expect everything to turn out well the first time.

[Old habits die hard?]

I know that. Some people make it seem so...easy, though.

[quite. It's frustrating, to say the least]

And most people take time to refine their work. Or had you been thinking you weren't one of them?

Not at all. I'm fully aware that not doing so can result in a...poor performance, to say the least.

[And now because he's slightly crazy, he talks to his sister mid-conversation]

Isn't that right, Sis?

[yeah, about that -- she really needs to hang out with normal people more often...]

So there's not much of an issue here, is there?

[hanging around normal people is for squares]

[her first response is a big DO NOT WANT on the inside, but hey. It's not his fault she has an aversion.

I just want to tell me what you think of it.

[Sorry about your aversion and his obliviousness, but he'll be playing that small part he's composed so far. A slow piece, almost trying to be soothing, but at one point, it feels a bit rushed, and that's how much he got up to. So it ends there, abruptly.]

[she starts a little at the sudden cut-off, having been expecting him to carry on. When it becomes clear that isn't the case, she pauses to gather her thoughts]

You have the technical skill for it, that's for sure. I like the intro, it sets a good pace and makes the listener want to anticipate what comes next.

Thank you.

The introduction is all I have so far, I'm afraid.

[Taking comments into consideration...he'll have to work on it a bit more.]

["I'd like to hear the full version when you're done" would be the appropriate thing to say here, though she's not likely to mean it ._.a]

A good beginning is half the success, right?

[He'll take no offense to that.]

I guess. Now I just have to work on making it good overall.
