A half eagle, half horse creature. It's very big on being polite. I dunno why, the mere sight of it is rude. [ James thinks they are ugly, especially the drawings Peter used to make. ]

Think the head of an eagle, plus the wings, and the arse and legs of a horse. Then multiply that by intensely ugly and that's a hippogriff.

I've never really met one, but they don't seem very nice. You have to approach them in a certain manner for them to accept you. It sounds like it requires a lot of patience [ which James doesn't have ] and I've got things to do, you know?

I guess... but then aren't they worth it? Like, doesn't there have to be some kind of give and take with it or something?

I dunno. I didn't get very far with my reading before I decided to draw on Peter's notes.

But I guess that if you manage to impress it and get to touch it, that's quite an achievement. I guess they're picky bird horse things when it comes to who can touch them and whatnot.

What does one do with an eagle and a horse? Respectively, of course. I think the ugly hybrid is only common to the Wizarding world.

Um... well, I don't know. I mean, I'm from a big city, so we didn't really have many of either around me...

Oh. What do you have in the city?

Not... really a ton, to be honest. There's a bunch of domesticated pets - mostly cats and dogs - but we also get a ton of pidgeons and a few other birds... but not much more than that. It's a city, after all.

Um... maybe? I don't think so... the city's too bright and everything... but there may be some in the parks or something.
