#014 - Dictated

[After that terrifyingly horrendous incident with him as a Marine, Navy, whatever officer, Sanji's been quieter than usual. Just cleaning up his room and the kitchen, really. But, the place has been too quiet, much too quiet, and after some investigating... he's got some bad news.Monkey D. Luffy and Tony Tony Chopper have gone home. Sorry to ( Read more... )

[She was already heading to the kitchen as she was reading her journal. She looks up as she enters and immediately pauses. Looking between the entry he had just made and him cleaning the kitchen. Possibly just as many times as she opens her mouth to say something just to close it. None of it would really work in this situation.

After a few moments, she closes her journal, but doesn't move from the doorway.]

...It's rather wrong that even the kitchen wasn't spared. Um, if you wouldn't mind some help, I wouldn't mind.

[Quiet and unobtrusive as a mouse as she is, he doesn't quite pick up that she's there over the sound of water running in the faucet, right up until she speaks. Surprised, he twists his head around his shoulder with probably the closest expression she's ever seen on him to 'serious.' It fades with a little smile soon, though.]

What, and make you soil your hands? Not a chance. Go hop up and have a seat, I need a break anyway and could stand to do a little cooking.

[She returns that smile with a softer one of her own. Months ago, when Naruto left, she reacted in much the same way. Except had she not been interrupted, she probably would have cleaned off even the enamel from the dishes.

She understands enough to take a seat nearby like he suggested rather than rehash an old discussion.]

It's all right... You don't have to cook unless you really feel up to it.

Nonsense, I always feel up to it!

[It's true, he uses it as a form of stress relief. He loves his life. Usually. With a good thumbs up to Hinata, glad for the distraction from... how terrible this day has been so far, he heads over to the range and stretches. A little cooking will help him feel so much better.]

What do you feel like today, huh? Be as exotic as you please, I need to work out some kinks after being all... bad.

[She's always more than happy to be of some use, and if that's as a distraction in this case, then, well... She'll do her best.

She drums her fingers against her legs, trying to think and channel her nervous energy. Even if one day she does hope everyone can laugh and say, 'Remember when the castle tried to have us play pirates and navy?']

Um. Do you know how to make...anmitsu?

Anmitsu?

[Give him just a second while he thinks. It's not about the fact that his friends are dropping like flies, so it's good thoughts! He peruses his memory of recipes, then snaps his fingers and grins.]

Yes, I remember! I made a batch a couple years back; not a very common dish where I'm from, but I can whip up some, not a problem at all!

[And with that said, he's off to the fridge!]

Um, well, you did say to...to choose something 'exotic'.

[Though she does kind of regret it because it's not something he's very familiar with. And she doesn't want him to work harder to indulge such a homesick whim. Even though pretty much anything else she'd request would be some form of sweets or desserts or junky food.]

...I-I can think of something else if it turns out to be too much trouble.

You picked good! I like workin' on things I don't do often, it keeps me sharp.

[He'd be just as happy pouring her a bowl of cereal, but it's the principle of the matter. Digging out fruit and other ingredients of all sorts, he mumbles a few wishes for some of the more exotic key ingredients that would take a long time to refine on his own.]

Not a problem at all, I'll have your dessert ready in a coupla minutes.

Mm, then... I'm glad it's such a help to you.

[And she does her best to smile. Really, she's glad he's distracted and doing something he enjoys. But still, it's hitting her that she actually asked for something...and he's doing it! She's definitely thinking up ways to repay this in the future.]

Why, thank you!

[She's such a sweetheart, this one, and he finally has an idea of what she likes! It's pots and pans time so much boiling to do, and he looks over the fruits and such thoughtfully.]

What would you like on it, eh?

[If fruits weren't sugary sweet, she probably wouldn't eat them half as often as she does. As they are, she thinks for a few seconds on just what kind of fruits to have. Her eating habits, they are bad.]

Just, um, strawberries. That'll be enough. Since you are actually going through the trouble of making it.

[It's not Sanji's place to judge. Even if it was, fruits are a good thing, for sure! Yes, he's perfectly cool with making her something nice and tasty and somewhat healthy, it's the best of all the worlds.]

Sweet, tart, and simple. I can work with that. [Boiling water time! And adding in some ingredients to get that jelly ready to go!]

[She's just sitting and watching him work, possibly still tapping her fingers against her legs. Helpful energy, what does she do with you. She missed watching him cook the last time, but not this time.]

Um, thank you...for doing this. Especially since you really didn't have to.
