[the first 24 hours after their return had been spent putting his room back in order. It was an upsetting violation, but he'd dealt with worse. Currently, he's sitting at one of the bars in town, a glass of scotch close at hand, thinking over the week's events.]And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why the army is better than the navy. I guess it evens the score for giving us so much trouble to begin with.

Except for the part where giving it trouble isn't exactly putting us in the seat of comfort.

We'll never get that anyways.

[a humorless laugh] That's the truth.

Ah well. At least the town's intact. Seems like these people have enough to deal with without adding in a bunch of twelve year olds with temper tantrums.

Yeah. Usually something bad happens to them whenever these things happen. I'm glad they got passed over for once.

Cleaning up and finding pets isn't too bad. We've dealt with worse.

Tell that to Bones. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes if she ever catches the ones who messed with her lab.

I don't know who that is. Sorry about her lab though. That must be a lot harder to replace than personal effects.

She's my partner.

And yeah. She'd been making some headway on a couple of those murders in town.

Besides the general ick factor, I would not want to be in their shoes if she catches up with the ones responsible. She does not like people messing with her bones.

So they were messing with remains. [Yeah she's definitely getting the ick factor here.]

I can't say I blame her for being upset. That takes a lot of work, doesn't it?

More than usual, with her not having her squints here.

Squints?

Science types. You know... 'cause they squint at things. To help her in the lab.

There's a lot of interesting terms where you come from.

[that gets an amused sound] I suppose there are. Where are you from, then?

A lot of places. [A beat. He probably wants more than that and she has had him translating for her.]

I was born in Greece and spent most of my life in New York City. Do they exist where you come from?

Oh, definitely. Can't say I've been to Greece, though. I've got my hands full enough in the States.

My partner and I are set up in DC. But it's the federal thing. We've got cases all over the US.
