[Out front of the castle, Daine sits under a tree with the journal open beside her. A few different kinds of birds are in the branches above her, seemingly content with each other's company as the brunette flips the occasional page in her book.]
It's only been a few days since I arrived, and I can't help becoming more curious about this place. It doesn't resemble any castle I've been to back home, at least not from the inside. Things here are very centralized with the body mostly comprised of living quarters. In a way, that does make sense considering there aren't people needed to run the surrounding land. [She pauses in her thoughts, flipping a few more pages before continuing in a different direction.]
I've been told people here are from all different kinds of worlds with varying levels of technology and magic. I wonder how many are even vaguely similar to my own. Back in Tortall, we're ruled by King Jonathan IV of Conté and Queen Thayet. We have knights and nobility and mages, and those are simply the humans that might be of interest...
[Daine trails off after that, murmuring to herself. Given a few moments, her voice can be made out once more.]
Idle ramblings aside, I do have a few questions, though most can wait. One that's been on my mind since I arrived was the assortment of residents and creatures present here. What sort of unusual beings are living here? I can sense a good number I'm unfamiliar with. Rather than going to see for myself, I figured asking might be the safer route for the time being.
