twenty-sixth labyrinth

[It'd been trying first few days for Felix. After the initial utter panic he fell back to the one thing he trusted - books. It might have been unfair to the toddler to treat him like a puzzle, but doing so helped Felix remove himself from gnawing worry in his own mind that he had absolutely no business with a child. [Around and (floating) about in the garden are also two books, one smaller than the other. Back in their world, such flowers don't exist anymore, which is why Weiss is trying to teach his sequel "son" about them. Or rather, he was, before he got distracted by ~magic~. So the two books float closer.]

[Ryuga collapses into Felix's waiting arms just as he catches sight of the books. What was this? He's just going to...stare...not quite knowing what to make of them. Was there someone around controlling them? He glances around to check]

[oh dear. they're staring at them. The little grimoire is looking at papa book on what to do.]

Forgive the distraction. My...son...was simply curious.

[ahahaha...how did Nier ever manage this "parenting" thing so well?]

[Felix is used to the talking book thing by now. He could even handle a floating book...but both, and TWO of them even...isn't exactly something he can brush off as if it happened everyday]

I...your...ah...

[He shakes his head trying to regain coherency. Ryuga, meanwhile, doesn't know enough to know that floating books are odd and is trying to stand up again]

...it's fine. Forgive my landed fish impression. Are you...a resident here?

Yes. Finally, someone who doesn't foolishly assume I am an enchanted journal at first sight.

[baby book is content to float around, taking in all the surroundings, for now.]

The mention of a son gave me a vital clue, considering the week's events...

[His own 'event' is now watching Weiss curiously]

Wel-

[and this is when babby book decides to pop up to speak.]

Dad, he can use magic too! Is it like yours?

I cannot say.

Your child asks complicated questions.

Typical. Though in truth, I cannot blame him.

Neither can I. I enjoy complicated questions, but I was merely acknowledging it for what it was. Magic isn't simple...but really, what in life is?

Indeed. Life is often as complicated as one chooses to make it, as well. Correct, Grau?

Grimoire Grau.

[Being a magical book wasn't the only thing he inherited from papa book, it seems.]

Indeed. I suppose my preference runs to the complex.

And, ah, what is your name? [Did you call a talking book, sir? He wasn't sure]

I am Grimoire Weiss.

[some page flutters, that would be a nod. But now he's looking at Ryuga.]

And what is his name?

lord_wizard May 27 2011, 04:16:25 UTC
Ryuga. Ryuga Harrowgate. His first name is from his second father's language.

[Ryuga, in true inheritance of Felix's curiosity, starts walking towards the smaller book]
