"Insane" would be throwing it out a window.

No, instead you want to give the kid away to some random person.

[Going to try to actually comfort the kid because of failmother's inability to be useful.]

Better them than me. [She crosses her arms, watching him. SO ENTIRELY OUT OF HER ELEMENT RIGHT NOW.]

[Finally figuring out the problem and trying to change a dirty diaper, in spite of his horrible inexperience.] No. We are not giving the kid away, Kat. Besides, can you see the castle letting us off that easy?

Adapt, Spartan.

[Continuing to watch from a safe distance.] No. [He had a point. The castle never let them off easy.]

[She deflates slightly at that order. She should, if she only knew how. She could adapt for everything else, but this ...?] So what is it?

We totally forgot to discuss a name when we were planning, didn't we? dontpatr0nizeme May 22 2011, 15:48:03 UTC
Well, for the week, we have a son to care for. It's not like we're raising him from birth or need to do it long.

You never thought about having kids either, did you?

Totally. XD I'm good with whatever inmylight_comdr May 22 2011, 16:07:47 UTC
Thank god for small favors.

[She just stares at him. Do you even need to ask that question? Sharp,] Do you think any part of a 'normal life' has crossed my mind?

Only kid we're likely to have, so make the most of it, Kat.

And no. But why don't you actually try interacting with the kid some?

[Incredulously,] What do you expect me to be able to do without breaking him?

[But she's coming closer and looking at the kid a little more curiously]

Well, you can try talking to him, for starters. Get to know him. [The smell is gone, at least. So Kat can't complain there. and Washington is currently holding him.]

Do you Spartans really think of all normal humans like that???

There's a lot I can break with very minimal effort. He's little. It's a legitimate concern. [That's her idea of concern.]

[She and looks at the kid, who looks back at her, and for a moment they just stare at each other.]

Why are you bigger than Daddy?

[Kat's silent for a breath, and then grunts and turns to start pulling her armor on.] Someone needs to keep 'Daddy' in line.

I'm sure you can be gentle, Kat.

[can't help a laugh at that.] Kat, you really shouldn't be like that.

Carter, Mommy is just special. Bigger than normal.

Maybe I'll just treat him like a tactical nuke.

[She ignores Washington for the most part, but hearing that name gets her to stop as she's pulling out her undersuit. She shoots Washignton a glance, her tone soft and warning.]

Is that name your doing? [Because as far as she knows, Washington's the only one here that knows that name.]

Hey, he's not that bad.

And totally not my doing, Kat.

[So deadpan.] If I treat him like a nuke I'm less likely to drop him.

[She's quiet a moment, eyeing the kid still, before heaving a sigh and setting the undersuit aside. No armor for today.] The castle.

[Crossing her arms again and levelling a gaze at Carter] You know what you should do, Carter? You should ask 'Daddy' to show you around.

... Good point.

Exactly. You think I'd do that?

[Sighs] I'm not caring for him alone, Kat. He needs his mother too. No pawning him off on me.
