[Heroes Filter]
[Her voice, when it comes over the journal, is laced with controlled anger.]
By now, I'm sure most of you know at least a little about the kidnappings and who's behind them.
[she takes a deep breath, some of the anger fading, letting her shame rise to the surface] And some of you will have already seen that there were a few of us who weren't telling everything we knew. I won't try to explain myself and I won't ask anyone to understand. I let Legato manipulate me into silence and there is nothing right about that.
[but then that anger is back, still tightly restrained, but very, very present] But after what happened yesterday, it should be very clear why he was able to do so.
I should have told someone. Immediately. Because we can't trust him. But the whole reason I didn't was to avoid anyone foolishly charging in to a situation where they weren't going to win. What happened yesterday could have ended with half the town dead, and that was after his threat was out in the open. What could possibly have possessed anyone to-
[she cuts off, taking a deep breathe. She knows she can't point fingers. Not when she's as much to blame as anyone. But she's furious]
Look. I'm not keeping secrets any more. He filtered to me again, after whatever that trainwreck of a fight was. And, for some reason, he still seems intent on keeping the peace. God knows why, since there's no way it's out of compassion for the townspeople. But he said he's trying to protect what he values. I can only guess this has something to do with Riful...but either way, if he's telling the truth he hasn't been taking any more townspeople recently. I haven't heard anything else from the police station or from the charity contacts either.
I'm not saying to leave him alone. Not entirely. He can't be trusted...and if he's working for Riful, there's got to be a catch. But what I'm saying is this:
No more solo attacks.
No more cocky attempts thinking that, just because you're big and bad in your world, you can take him down without casualties. I've watched him take 30 townspeople and make them act out a play of his own creation just because he was drunk and bored and I have no idea what he's capable of when he's sober and strong.
If you really want to stop him then please...I'm begging you... you have to know that you can bring him down without him being able to lash out at the town. And you've GOT to be sure you'll be the one who wins.
Until we know what he's protecting or why he's staying his hand, we can't risk him changing his mind.
[as she's talked, her anger has faded into something that is tired, but determined. As her tone shifts, a little bit of self-bitterness seeps into the edges, but she's not taking time to wallow] I know you might not have any reason to trust me after everything else...but I'm begging you. Don't take this lightly. Things will only get worse if we're careless.
[and, speech done, she'll sit back and brace herself for responses]
[OOC: Responses will be slow, as I have to go to play practice, but I wanted to get this up before it was too late in the day. I'll tag back asap]
