[She sees the reply appear, having expected his voice... Partly because she hoped for it and partly because his voice would betray if he's still on a loss.

Seeing this written makes her think that he probably still IS on his loss - which is also what she kind of hoped for. She finds a pen in her bag on the stable floor.]

I had no chance to talk to you after the trial, which I had hoped for. What you did was very brave. You stood up for those of us that were in danger, no matter if we all had the sense of appreciating it or not. I definitely appreciated it.

[This will be longer than she planned initially. Wiping some stray chaff off her brow, she squats and scribbles on, journal in her knee.]

It was also brave of you to stand up for what you believe in. I have never seen anyone dealing with a situation like that. You did it despite your loss. I *blot* think you should *blot* hope you believe me when I say that what you did made a difference in many ways and it may change things for the better here

[Quite so, one despondent priest and one friend knocked out. But will Marian be deterred from that? Nooooo.]
