Things are... Unstable at home between mutants and humans.

Is that supposed to be somethin' new? Hard to imagine things not bein' unstable.

No, it is not new, but it has gotten worse. There have been incidents lately that have increased anti-mutant hysteria.

What kinda 'incidents' you talkin'?

[She hesitates, then sighs.]

After M-Day, a group called the Purifiers emerged. They wished to wipe out the rest of the mutant population, as they believed we were demonic. At one point, they began kidnapping young mutants, including Julian Keller, and infecting them with a virus that would make them lose control of their powers. They then released them in highly populated areas. We were able to save three of them, but the others died, and took many humans with them.

Then, in San Francisco, the authorities instituted a mutant curfew. A majority of my classmates rioted and had to be arrested.
