[ Have the daughter of Elrond sit regally at the lobby, writing. She has wandered out of her room and walked through the hallways until she finally found herself here. She writes now on the journal that she has occupied herself with for the past few hours. ]One loose thread can unravel even the mightiest of tapestries

[ Arwen is absorbed by her journal, flipping through the pages to read the previous entries, so much so that it took her a few moments to notice him. She finally turns when she does and gives him the ghost of a smile. ]

Do pardon me. I hope you have not stood there for long.

[consecrat]

[ She is more or less used to the fumbling and thinks little of it as she closes her journal and sets it beside her. She answers him gravely, the smile quickly falling away. ]

I fear it is so.

[consecrat]

[ Arwen watches his response curiously, letting the silence hang before speaking again. ]

Good things. Perhaps you may indulge me by recounting a few of them?

[consecrat]

All boons have their limits.

[consecrat]

And you cannot wish yourself returned home.

[ She falls silent again, pondering about wishes, before realizing that she has forgotten to introduce herself. ]

Forgive my manners. My name is Arwen, daughter of Elrond, though I am also called Undomiel or Evenstar.

[consecrat]

[ That earns him another smile, not from the flattery as she has heard one too many of them, but from his gestures. They charm her. She takes his offer and shakes his hand gently but firmly. ]

Well met, John Egbert. Arwen will suffice.

[consecrat]

[ Joy is rare in these dark days before the dawn. ]

Have you lived here long, John?

[consecrat]

Do you believe, then, that time stands still while we are here?
