I think losses are supposed to be annoying, otherwise they'd be called Gains.

Do you know any of the shop-owners in the city?

I know the man who runs the coffee shop, vaguely. Barney, is it?

I've been there a few times. It's nice.

I was trying to get a 'friends and family' discount from some of the other shops.

Oh. Uhm... sometimes when you work at a store you get a discount on the stuff they sell. You can give it to your friends and family, too.

It's supposed to encourage patronage.

I don't think that would work on the Disc, somehow. It would only encourage thievery.

[laughs] Really? The economy there must really suck.

Not especially. You just give people an opportunity to commit and crime and they will.
