She had her own room, in the TARDIS, you know. The last time she was here...

I think I'd heard somethin' like that...lookin' back. Guess you knew her pretty well then, huh?

I did, yes. So I ... I know how you feel, I suppose.

[this time around it ... he knows better than to say so to Kaylee, but ... it wasn't -his- River. he knows what Peri meant by him not being -her- Doctor, now]

It ain't fair, this place takin' her away. She was happy, I think. Most of the time, anyways. It's got no right, splittin' us all up.

As happy as one can be here, all things considered. Though I'm sure a great deal of that had to do with her having friends here.

And not havin' the Alliance after her, way they was back home.

That is, most definitely, a perk. ... I never heard, exactly, what was going on, there. She didn't talk about it, and I only met Simon briefly, so I didn't get the chance to ask. I've a feeling it was nothing pleasant, though.

I... ain't sure, exactly. I mean, Simon would know more, seein' as he was studyin' on how to make her better. But they'd been messin' with her... doin' some kind of work on her brain that made her...well... the way she is. Or was, 'fore she kinda settled down a bit, here.

... That's terrible. No one has the right to do that to anyone, no matter what sort of authority they think they hold. ... I'm glad she has the lot of you to look after her.

No...they don't. But that's the Alliance, for ya. They're sure they can do just about anythin' they want.

All the more reason I'm glad your world has people like you and your crew... I could never abide people who got too far-reaching with their idea of power.

Seems a whole lot of folks do, once they got a little to reach with.
