attempt number nineteen ♓ (dictated)

What's the longest somebody's gone without getting smacked by a loss on top of a loss in this place, anyway? I just came up on month five and already I have this feeling like the other shoe is waiting to drop. And, no offense to anyone with especially bad luck, but I'm kind of hoping it isn't bomb-like when it finally does ( Read more... )

Might wanna keep an eye on the replies here, then. Apparently, results are varied.

So I've been hearing. I wonder why that is, when you get down to it, or if it changes from stay to stay here in Paradisa. I see Lucy's had only one in three years, and someone else one in two?

If it's all luck, that still seems a little too lucky. Makes me wonder what it is the losses accomplish, both the permanent for as long as you're here (this time around) ones and the temporary ones.

It's kind of worrying, you know? Like if losses are some weird kind of magical punishment for something, then do we really want to be the people who are apparently not doing things wrong enough to skate by? I don't know. Maybe I'm overthinking it. But it is worth thinking about -- and maybe talking to Flora at Mineas.

Definitely worth talking to Flora about. If it is some sort of built in punishment system, then maybe the further losses are meant to magnify the original, or come around when whatever causes them feels like we're complacent with what's going on. Or that we're adjusting.

It's a little too much guessing, and not enough consistent facts.

Lois might know more. I know she's researched everything there is to research about this stuff and she's got some soul-sucking castle theory or whatever. It might be worth seeking her out to talk about.

I'll ask her, though I'll probably wait on it. She's got other things to look forward to at the moment.

The way things are going with her and Clark, she's always gonna have other things to look forward to.

Ha, it's the least I can do, to let her focus on something that personal.

So, are you gonna go to the party?

I was planning on stopping by for a while, yes!

Is there anything we're traditionally supposed to bring by that you know of?

To an engagement party? Noooo idea. I mean, if it were a full-on wedding, everybody would bring a present of some kind, but for just an engagement party ...

I guess I don't really know.

I think you find people bring gifts to the clans, or to families with a lot of power and influence in the country, but that's less of a standard here. I can't figure out what's the best response for this.

Maybe we should build them a fruit basket. Actually, if gifts are required, me giving Lois baking lessons should totally count.
