Meet me in your room, ETA two minutes. I'll need some help with repairs. [She sounds fine, if a little irked.]

Repairs? Shit. Be right there.

[He'd been chilling in the TARDIS, but fortunately there's a teleporter set up on floor eleven (cleverly hidden in the Insolitus) so he's back in his room in under a minute.]

Calm down, soldier, it's nothing serious. [She's just annoyed as hell that she didn't keep a closer watch on her shield levels, and curious about that the hell that metal was.]

[When she gets there she lets herself in, closing the door before popping her helmet off with her left hand, her right dangling and dripping mechanical fluids.]

There should be some replacement parts on your desk. [She wished them up on the way over, but she's pretty sure she might need more once they get a closer look at the damage.]

[The last time he saw a mashup like that was when Tex fought with the Meta - not a good reminiscence, really. He almost visibly winces, though he keeps his armor on as he picks up the pieces from the desk.]

What the hell happened?

Saying 'hello'. From the look and sound of it a new resident, unless you know someone with retractable metal claws?

[Setting her helmet aside, she uses her left arm to lift her right by the elbow so they can closer inspect just how deep the three gashes went.]

Can't say I do. [He props the prosthetic up on a little box to get a clear view.] Damn. What the hell kind of metal slices through MJOLNIR like hat? [But it was still clearly metal--or, at least, it didn't have the signature melting that plasma would.] Human? Or human-looking, at least?

Human by appearance. Took hits like a Spartan in armor, felt like I was punching a tank. Except that when I punch tanks, they dent. Trust me, I want to know as much about this metal as you do.

[Starts to disassemble the forearm, inspecting each piece as she pulls it away. It's a little slow going, working with her non-dominant hand]

So at the very least, not a regular human. Great.

[He's careful to keep out of her personal space, but York knows as well as anyone that something like this takes a minimum of a doctor and a technician if done correctly.]

Want an extra pair of hands? We can check anything that got sliced for shavings.

What's your money on? Advanced AI and robotic interface? [He did seem a little crass for an AI, but then again, anything was possible.]

[She finally heaves a sigh and leans back. This is why she'd come here instead of jsut heading to her own place, she figured the workd was too delicate for one awkward hand alone.] Yes, do that. Have Delta scan it, I want to know if there was any underlying factors, electric, biomechanical, whatever, or if it was just metal.

In this place? The metal makes me think robot, yeah, but if he looked human to your eyes he coulda been some damn superhero or something. [Clark you make York B|-face.]

No problem. [Grabbing some tools, he deftly begins to pick apart the damaged parts of the arm and replace them with the spare parts. Delta pops on to observe.]

D, take a took at the slices.

Affirmative Beginning analysis.

No way to really tell just by looking anymore, is there? [So much more difficult than 'See a Covvie, shoot it'.] Appreciated, Delta.

[She watches York work quietly for a moment, before adding,] The overshileds worked perfectly, by the way. [She was just too stubborn to step away when they fell]

That would make life easy. Can't have that.

[He busies himself with the repair while Delta scans and answers.] I am glad to hear it. If this individual becomes hostile again, you will have a better idea of when to move away.

It appears that the damage was done by completely solid material of an unknown variety; I do not detect any shaving or fragmentation inconsistent with MJOLNIR standard alloy. Are you certain it was metal and not a ceramic composition?

Well, it's not like I'm familiar with easy anyway. [Wry little smile there.]

[Brows peak at the mention of no shavings. Whatever this stuff was, it was unbelievably Strong.]

It looked and sounded like metal, but it's not like I stopped to take an in depth inspection. [Well, aside from when he had them shoved up against her visor. She got a pretty good, if quick, look then] I wouldn't count it out.

True enough. [And there, visibly damaged parts off. Now he's beginning to hook up the replacements. Nearly two years of servicing his own armor by necessity--and a significant amount of time before that doing it by choice--has left York with a very good repair skillset.]

Thank you. If so, I would propose an unknown alloy; your armor is pinnacle of current UNSC research, disregarding experimental modifications.

[She can tell, and you've no idea, York, how grateful she is to have someone she trusts to do things like this.]

Experimental modifications ... you're referring to your Freelancer project?

[And unlike some assholes, he's not even going to ask anything in return.]

Right, like my biofoam injection system, or the Meta's experimental time distortion unit. I'm sure they'll eventually get out into the field, but for now we get to run guinea pig.

Aren't you the lucky ones. [There is a dark edge to her tone, though. From what she's learned from you and Washington, it hasn't turned out all that well for the Freelancers.]
