[058] A Warm Welcome

Jan 20, 2011 19:07

[Filter: Tam, Brock, Mal, Barbara, Adell, Reno, Red Robin, Halloween, Lunar, Cessily, Mat, Felix, Koltira, Ciel] Thank you all for either volunteering your services as teachers, or expressing an interest in advancing your skills in self-defense. Due to the high volume of teachers and low volume of students, the teaching groups have been ordered into one-on-one pairings based on the skill the student professed an interest in learning.

There has been a young woman, Miria, who has expressed an interest in observing classes as an impartial outsider. If any do not mind this addition to classes, please say as I do not wish for anyone to be uncomfortable while training.

Please see below your assigned teacher / student / specialisation (teacher in bold, student italicised and specialisation in normal text), and feel free to use this entry to get better acquainted and organise a time for your first lesson.

Ukitake Jyuushiro - Tam Fox - Sword
Koltira - Ciel Phantomhive - Sword
Brock Samson - Mat Cauthon - Hand to Hand / Martial Arts
Maladict and Barbara Gordon - Lunar Shirogane - Hand to Hand -- this is a joint teacher partnership, as Barbara Gordon requires to work in tandem with another teacher due to restrictions.
Adell - Cessily Kincaid - Hand to Hand
Reno - Halloween - Firearms and Staffs
Red Robin - Felix - Hand to Hand

[Filter: Jr., Percy, Kallen, Cassandra, Matt] Thank you very much for your offers of assistance, but the volume of students was much lower than that of the teachers and you all expressed a willingness to allow others to take first precedence in this project. I will keep your names on record, for if any of the new residents expresses an interest in learning self-defense.

[Filter: Miria] I have conveyed your interest in observing classes to the students and teachers, it will be their choice if you are allowed to observe. I hope this is amenable.

[Filter: Ianto Jones] I do not wish to intrude on your good work, but I have noticed that the volume of new residents is overwhelming for one person to keep up with. I hope you will approve of my ideas below, and that the tourist office and the welcoming committee can work closely together.

[/End of Filters]

With the recent arrival of so many new people to the castle, it has become more evident that there needs to be a formal welcoming committee for each person. While I understand the tourism office has been doing some of this, there are too many people arriving for one person to keep track of.

In our time here, the odd becomes commonplace and we can forget how confusing, disorienting and even frightening arriving here can be. Being bombarded with information on wishes and losses certainly doesn't help that in some cases.

I propose a small group of people who, between them, will make sure that everyone entering the castle will be greeted by someone both knowledgeable about the way this world works and compassionate to their situation. It would also be wise when greeting, to make sure the new resident had access to all of the following:

-A floor map of the castle
-A basic map of the town
-Attention brought to these two entries of useful information.
-A basic tutoring on how to make and receive filters

Depending on how many people would be interested in such a scheme, a loose schedule can be worked out to make sure nobody is overlooked and the people involved do not become overwhelmed.

[ooc: Completely open. All self defense students/teachers are free to filter to one another in this entry to keep everything from getting too scattered. Any problems, questions, comments, just PM me or IM me. I have to run out now, but I wanted to get this up first, I'll be back in a few hours!]
