[ Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. MOMO knew it as an ancient holiday from Lost Jerusalem, one that had fallen by the wayside like many other traditions. really, she didn't know much about it, and she had never thought to celebrate it. but upon reading the invitation that had been left for her, along with looking through the basket of decorations, when she woke up, she found that she wanted to. celebrate the lives of loved ones who were no longer with you, the card had read. there was something touching about that, and so she got to work.

she's made three shrines, all close together, all decorated differently, though there's flowers beside each of them. her beret is placed near the one on the left, and the one on the right has a handmade necklace draped around it. the middle shrine is the largest, and there are ribbons of different colors adorning it. they're all for her family ─ her daddy, her younger sisters, and her older sister.

MOMO herself is sitting on the floor in front of them, her hands together in her lap. ]

Um... what do you think? I hope you like them. I wish we could have spent more time together... I wish I could have met you all when you were alive. There's so much I don't know about you! What colors were your favourites? Was there a food you really didn't like? I don't like things that are too spicy. Maybe you were the same way! This holiday is to celebrate your lives, and even though I don't know much about you, I'm glad you were alive.

I'm glad that I got to see you, Daddy, and my sisters, too, even if it wasn't for long. Thank you for showing me what Daddy looked like... and Daddy, thank you for calling me your daughter. That made me so happy! I'm very proud that I have you and Mommy for my parents.

Mommy's doing well. She's not here with me right now, but at home, we're living together. She takes care of me, and I do my best to take care of her, so don't worry about us. We both still think of you. Mommy doesn't like to talk about it much, but I know she loves you. I... I love you, too! So... so... I hope you're doing well.

[ that's all she wanted to say, but she's not sure how to wrap it up, so she falls silent, staring down at her clasped hands. ]
